i like music too much and I don't really know how to talk about myself, feel free to ask questions if you want.

I try to post something cool under #musicforyall daily (I'm taking a short depression break, please check out the past submissions for some cool stuff), if you'd rather music without my shitposts.

@redsad@ohai.social I remember the construction company I worked at, the CEO threw a shit fit when I gave my two weeks, that he "took a big chance on a framer and he paid well", like, dude, if you paid so well, why is it that I'm worried about the hour and a half commute both ways to the new job site and how it impacts how much I'm able to be at my second job?

@mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io so I am claiming purely from my experience from folks I know who take hormones for brain shit vs physical appeance. Folms who take T-style hormones for their own thing have a DRAMATIC drop in aggression. I'm on the complete opposite of the spectrum, I had a drop in aggression when I started taking estrogen, but the folks I know taking testosterone had a similar experience, that your brain kind of leveled off once those chemicals stooped fighting with you.

@RowinSpeez @bimmer That's how you tell he isn't a real contractor, wearing a helmet and hivi vest, no one having to chase his ass up 4 flights cause he decided to ride a sheet of plywood on a boomfork.

@LovingFalloutLondon1954 @CharlotteEowyn Then you look at the companion to "Starship Troopers", Haldeman's "Forever War", which is an (admitedly very flawed) book from a Vietnam vet that keeps saying, "We're being sent off on these boondogles and it seems like only to feed the machine"

@skinnylatte The real weird ones are the Catholics who think the Pope is not a real Christian and have split off into their own little thing, like CORAC. My uncle is in their little weird cult, apparently got him kicked out of Opus Dei which is a great indicator, when even the dudes wearing cilices think the CORAC guys are fucking weird.

@fromjason@mastodon.social Nowhere near what you're talking about, but it does remind me of 10ish years ago, I was in an Appalachian History class, and we were talking about mining. As someone from the area who had worked in mining, I thought I would correct a little bit of "nobility stereotyping" about miners I heard one flatlander going into based off their annual volunteering trip up in War, WV. They were less than polite about my "knowledge" (their quotes, not mine) and blew past it to someone who agreed with them. Let me stress again, absolutely apples and oranges, but that early experience outside of where I'm from has since reminded me to be more mindful about folks' experiences vs what I read from people who have no dog in the fight, as well as observational about how some folks tend to defer to the latter, even in leftist spaces where some folks tend to scream to the top of their lungs about their enlightment.

@alice I was raised on some strict appalachian, catholic, born-before-the-depression attitudes, and it's always a weird contrast to me that in my 30s, I can remember my mamaw saying, "You damn fools, how do you think you got this artwork?!" to sentiments of "traditional" attitudes nowadays

@AnimeAndVisial@mastodon.social @jolla@techhub.social I was thinking the same thing about the "no email" thing, like, I can understand the need to disconnect from work, but email is not a big time consumer, least not for me. Flip side, if I do need to check an email (and people other than my work or advertisers do email me, my roommates frequently send me emails), that means I'll have to get back home to my computer

@somebody My ex had worked at the same call center I had worked at, one night, we were in bed and she heard me apparently start our old collections call script in my sleep. She proceeded to run throught the FULL process and I never faltered once. I have trouble remembering my date of birth sometimes.

@hex@dads.cool Yea, I was running through the checklist in my head when it happened, no numbness, no heat, so I was just like "Okie doke, all good" I am about to make my roommates to see the new JBB episode with Oddity. Yea, I think the biggest thing with Terrifier vs a lot of other slashers is it reminds me of all those action movies like Commando or Rambo, where some people are actually living vicariously with Art the Clown, vs other slashers were the villain is not really given the same closeness?

@hex@dads.cool That's the other side of it, you look at all those other slasher villains, they're given some sort of backstory that lends at least a little bit of humanity, whereas Art is just "He'll hack someone up while smiling and you get to watch it all", there's no real connection or story to him. As a special effects showcase, they're beilliant, but even Maniac, with all of Savini's antics, had something to hold onto.

Well a stranger complimented my looks, I saw Hokum, and a couple kids hit me with a water balloon of something gross smelling.

So you know, pretty decent day on balance.

@hex@dads.cool I feel sorrier for everyone on the red line that had to ride with me lol. It was good, I think I liked Oddity and Caveat more, but I don't regret the price of admission. David Wilmot was great. It made me think more on why I don't like the Terrifier series.

@jack_daniel I haven't seen one of these ages, I swore to try and make one after my cigarbox guitar fell in from the tension of using a shovel handle as a neck for a bottleneck slide guitar, but I got sidetracked.

@eri The "Life is Work" folks up in Chicago are nice people, and Chicago House was (maybe still are? Idk) having some financial issues, but they do outreach for HIV/AIDS positive folks, and they have pretty comprehensive assistance for trans folks.

Bartender: "Oh here, you're new to town, try this, it's a Chicago snack food staple"

Me: "Really, cause it has some weight but I barely hear any rattling, do you think I just fell off the turnip truck?"

I just realized they're likely gonna use the poster for Serkis's "Animal Farm" adaption as the book cover for new reprints. Just saying, if you aren't gonna add in all the fart jokes and Rogen's weird "Huh-Huh-Huh" laugh, don't try to decieve with that poster.

I finally got everything unpacked, it still looks like a feral raccoon lives in there, but it's at least a feral raccoon that can pretend alright.
