here's a helpful picture for some of you people that seem to want the worst people to know about your affiliations still

This world is at the end of the line. I saw things you can't erase from the inside of your eyelids.
Profile picture is me standing in a fabricator giving a thumbs up.

If you interact with it, it will make it pretty clear if we're on good terms.
I still write programs and tinker with machines sometimes but I don't work for the industry anymore.
Free Palestine, fuck Sam Altman.
Looking forward to having to wear a space suit to go outside
Okay, sweet, got the new account. I'm just going to make sure I have everything on here backed up and then do the redirect thing.
https://lobste.rs/s/qcenv8/rms_addresses_free_software_community#c_6jj4bv https://xcancel.com/paulnivin/status/1377079991020572676 insane that still nothing has been done to defrock that regressive harasser clown. people wonder why I really want nothing to do with the mainstream FSF gang on paper. I am not saying everyone that works for him is directly complicit but it's in no small part how he treats his employees on top of the allegations he's accumulated that makes the mainstream of free software so incredibly toxic. I just cannot stand that guys like this walk around with impunity in the industry I used to work for, but it really pours salt in the wound when you learn that the supposedly principled and freedom-loving alternative harbors just as many power tripping pigs. like honestly just let it burn
It kind of fries me a bit whenever I see liberals from the entertainment world talking about the situation in my country or in the world with phrases like "the writers" or "this season" or "ham-fisted symbolism" as if the symbolic order is fictional or as if the stuff actually going on is no more real than a TV show. There really aren't words to describe how derealized these people are. As long as the lights come on in their million dollar homes and the data flows to their devices every day, they live in an ominous floating castle from which all things appear to be equivalent.
Just got whiplash being reminded that there are technical workers in the west who know nothing about cybernetics. It's like seeing a human that doesn't know they're from earth. Please read Stafford Beer!
1/2 I've seen quite a number of accounts that are supposedly super hip and anarchist that unapologetically list "butlerian jihad" and "Luddite" as do not interact while framing the entire process of liberation as a linear progression from less to more tech using the strawman that resistance to more control is reactionary by conflating it with "more technology". It comes from a fantasy that somehow it would be possible to create a high tech utopia without highly centralized high efficiency supply lines, while at the same time claiming that to consider alternatives is a reaction. What's especially bothersome about these positions is that they're so incoherent and ahistorical it's hard to even know where to start.
The world has not been cruel to him yet by Allison Mei-Li
so he brings leaves to construction workers
at the park, holds them out like treasures
anyone would be glad to take. The world
has not been cruel to him yet, so he lifts his
blue-beaded wrist up to everyone we pass, asking,
“Do you like my bracelet?” and the only possible
answer is: yes. The world has yet to be cruel to him,
so he believes there are only two types of people —
good and bad — and the bad ones aren’t real.
The world has not been cruel to him, so when he
can’t sleep, we list out all the people who love him
and when we run out of names, he tells me that
the trees love him. Saturn loves him. The sky loves him too.
And when he falls asleep on my shoulder,
I thank the world for staying soft for him.
For giving us a little longer.
For not being cruel to him
just yet.
Crazy how I learned all about BNF and LR(k) and the big names of the compiler writing hegemony in school but I'm just recently learning about Pratt parsing. I mean, looking deeply at it, it's basically just trainyard shunting, but instead of declaring it a toy and leaving it at implementing a few calculator ops, it presses into the idea deeply enough to explore the whole gamut of unambiguous (deterministic) grammars, including those which aren't context free, and shows the approach to be far simpler and more extensible, producing much more attractive syntax trees, much better semantic integration, and and to be easily implemented in hardware. This feels like it's awakening something in me that went to sleep when I was still in college. I'm reminded of all the ideas I had that I would have tried to prove out if I hadn't been discouraged from even trying with prejudice. It reminds me again just how petty the academic fiefdoms really are. It's a shame how tired I am now
it's quite nice to look at Roman history and read about shit like that time Caligula tried to make his horse a senator and even though he didn't do it there's a very high probability he was actually serious, and it just makes me feel like we're not alone with this moment in history.
Sometimes I'm just swept off my feet by the smallest things, like petals falling from trees after they bloom in the spring.
you will address doctor charles entertainment cheese by his full honorific title

Minneapolis women apparently used tinder to honeypot loads of ICE agents for opint, forwarding the conversations to their wives if their cover was blown.
it's insane how cory booker and his ilk will attack trump from the right on Iran and Zionism at aipac and the yuppies still refer to them as "the left" because they're slightly more bashful about the insane amount of K street money they get for consolidating the power of private prisons and the surveillance industry. nobody participates in this democracy because it isn't one.
Gigantic missed opportunity if nobody ever called the Pinkertons the Stinkertons

I think we should send peter thiel to God with an elaborate rube goldberg machine that involves spaghetti and meatballs
my son had the diabolical idea to make a vegan video essay call-out post about this game to make it viral

@0x00string@infosec.exchange the funniest part for me was the sentiment analysis regex that just matches strings like "thanks" and "wtf". it's like an eldritch horror
