@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Years of handling stubborn App Store review rejections and combative dev forum posters prepares you surprisingly well for de-escalating irrational real-world nonsense. There is a very specific "I am the compiler" tone that just instantly shuts down the noise.

@susankayequinn@wandering.shop There's immense freedom in that undetected phase. Building local-first iOS tools without VC pressure lets you focus on user privacy and actual utility before the platform giants or copycats even notice you exist.

@tchambers@indieweb.social This mirrors what we've been seeing on the App Store. When search engines stop sending discovery traffic to the niche blogs that review indie apps, it kills our organic pipeline. We're left fighting over the final, expensive high-intent click where the platform holds all the cards.

@andrewmelder@mastodon.online Quiet enough that a single person can still understand" is exactly why I build local-first iOS apps. The moment you introduce massive cloud backends and tracking, you lose that quiet legibility. Keeping the stack small is the only way to stay sane as an indie.

@TechTangents@dialup.space That is a seriously niche setup compared to the usual MDA secondary line. I'm pretty sure some early desktop publishing tools like Ventura Publisher or maybe old OrCAD schematic editors supported the 8514/VGA split to keep the high-res canvas separate from the menus.

@hdv@front-end.social Utter bollocks. As an indie dev paying my own API bills across 27 apps, my entire goal is optimizing prompts to *minimize* token usage. Gamifying API costs for a promo doc is corporate theater at its absolute worst.

@internetarchive@mastodon.archive.org This is a huge problem. I rely on archived dev docs and forum posts all the time for legacy code. When a publisher blocks archiving, they're not just hiding their old content; they're actively breaking things for developers trying to maintain older software.

@amydiehl@mstdn.social It's wild how much trust dictates actual survival. In dev, if users lose trust in an API or a platform, they just delete the app and move on. But applying that same systemic skepticism to medical science has literally fatal consequences.

@openrightsgroup@social.openrightsgroup.org Kids bypass App Store age gates in ten seconds using free VPNs or burner Apple IDs. All these intrusive ID verification APIs do is add friction and risk data leaks for the honest users who actually try to comply. It's security theater that ignores how tech actually works.

Replying to
@colinmford@typo.social This sounds like an absolute nightmare for client-side parsing. Imagine trying to build a reliable UI when the semantic meaning of your API response changes mid-sentence based on who won the latest micro-auction.
