Efforts to federate research infrastructures should not reinvent the wheel. ResearchEquals seeks to federate with the Fediverse instead.
> By using ActivityPub to federate research publishing, the act of publishing becomes the act of distribution.

We are actively working to make ResearchEquals safe by design. To prevent bots and bad actors, we now require manual approval for new accounts and we can quarantine accounts upon suspicious activity.
This is about actively caring for the space we seek to create, not gatekeeping. All genuine research practice remains welcome.
> Users can secure grants to conduct research built entirely on these holdings, while the infrastructure itself receives comparatively little, and in some cases nothing at all.
So true – tho there are shining lights who proactively reach out and WANT to help finance

Researchers are targeted under a US policy that allows visa denials and revocations based on their work. This is a direct attack on #AcademicFreedom
Coalition for Independent Technology Research filed a lawsuit challenging this policy – and asking the court to stop the government from targeting the public-interest research community so that scientists, students, and non-profit workers can continue their work without fear of retaliation.

Research is under siege — from censorship, pressure, and disinformation. AI makes it worse.
Trusting outcomes isn’t enough. We need to see how they are made. That's why ResearchEquals exists

This kind of maintenance you'll only know about when it does not work. Or if we tell you.
We need your support to make sure the pluming works, so get in touch if you have leads!

Great to see the Open Source for Science Fund launched for the life sciences!
We also need this for open scholarly infrastructure. Our funds run out end of 2027 and are actively looking for ways to sustain the project in a way that sustains our values.
ResearchEquals got reviewed in Katina Mag!
> its flexibility across disciplines and its inclusive concept of research outputs make it easy to share one’s work at any stage, and its user-curated collections effectively surface high-quality content. I recommend it.
We're being asked to provide feedback on types of statements that could be included in DOI metadata. Any additions/revisions you have that you'd like us to know about?
Another 111 days until our major upgrade🚀
