With my hearing aids, I get free battery replacements on the NHS. Bonus, the nearest place to swap is my literal doctor's office in the village.
So I'd mentioned to youngest that I had a pack ready to get swapped, and she volunteered to trot it down and see if they'd let her trade it for me. They sent her home with two fresh packs -- good kid.
But yeah! NHS does some things nice, hee hee. I get fresh batteries free, and they recycle the old ones for me.
I am on day ??? of a gross headache. Just bit the bullet and took some paracetamol... hopefully it helps. I do have some co-codamol, but like... save it for a lil treat, idk.
I'd ordered in more orange yarn to fuel my pumpkin making. And knowing it was coming via Royal Mail, I put my runty pumpkin by the door to gift to my postie -- which she accepted with a big grin. I had said that any I didn't sell this weekend would be going to friends, so I guess I kind of implied we're friends? I mean, I like her and would be happy to call her one, but mainly I just wanted to give her a lil gift.
Anyhoo. Back to knitting and imbibing allll the caffeine -- to try and help the headache, of course. Having said that, it'll probably just result in me falling asleep early, ha ha.
Happy Friday, for those who celebrate. Got through work nice and early, then helped eldest redye their hair. Beyond that it's been gaming ('Project Hospital' and 'Pokémon Z-A') and not moving. So yanno, my favourite things. xD
I'm currently enjoying a brief window of having the house to myself. Spouse went to pick up eldest from school to take them to their weekly club, and youngest is still at school. So yeah, just me and the (currently) quiet cats chilling.
So yeah. Gonna enjoy that while I can. :D
Whew, I have had a busy morning/day! I managed to cram through work in a few hours, finishing up around 11am -- just in time for the mobile groomer. She was late because she'd accidentally double booked herself, but that was fine. I wasn't going anywhere, and Halo certainly wasn't either.
He was a bit freaked out at being trapped in the kitchen so we could work on him, but he got through it and nobody got hurt. He's curled up on the floor near me being very handsome, and with the last few mats removed. She said that matting and shedding had been worse this summer, which, makes sense. She also said that we'd done a good job staying on top of his brushing, and indeed had managed to remove most of the clumps. She also had the same dematting brush I'd been thinking of picking up, so that was nice.
*rubs hands* Right! Should get back to knitting pumpkins (and being easily distracted by games).
Not much going on. Gaming with a side of pumpkin knitting. Spouse had the idea I could do one at catnip toy scale, and managed to successfully produce just that earlier. So I've saved that modification of the pattern if I want to do it again in future, in addition to remembering to actually write down my previous, large version pattern adaptation.

So yeah, gonna try to crank out a couple more for the fayre I'm doing next week. I also need to make one or two for our declutterer, since she put me back in this particular delightful nonsense. Of course, means rubbing a tiny bit of focus together... we'll see if I manage, ha ha.
In good spirits, as one would hope on a day off. I did wake up feeling a bit bleh that persisted, but.

Our declutterer was *SUPER* charmed by the ones I made last year; she apparently is a bit pumpkin mad. So I asked, would you like one, and she's like, yes please.
So I'll make her a a pair like mine, and then make me a few more, and then experiment in cat toy size. Spouse had mentioned that it would be a nice thing to send to a DJ we follow, hose cat we've declared to be Raven's cousin (they looked quite a bit alike). I'm all about making Eric (the cat) a pressie, and spouse bought some fresh catnip in preparation. xD Well, and for our cats too, of course.
Anyhoo. I should see if I saved my notes for scaling up the pumpkin. It's not like it's going to be hard to replicate, but it would mean a perfect size match to my existing big one.
In fairly good spirits. As is usually the case when our declutterer is here, we get quite a bit done. She helped spouse sort through some bits that had built up, while I bopped around doing a few chore bits that needed doing. I *think* we both managed to not overdo it, which, win.
So yeah, slightly tidier house, slightly tidier mind, ha ha.
Past that, nothing on the books. Just gonna enjoy my weekend and do as little as possible.

Not much going on. Curled up in games, and as there's three on the go right now, my brain is quite happy and quiet.
The kids have returned from school in good spirits, more or less. Spouse shot off a few emails back and forth to the head of SEND (Special educational needs and disabilities, for non-brits/non-parents/etc) at their school, to make sure accommodations for eldest were properly in place. This includes their form tutor suggesting they move to another form tutor, because the other one has a few friends of eldest's. So that's pretty cool. I said to spouse that I appreciate that the head of SEND is really proactive for both of our kids and how much I appreciate it.
lol. I just had to block someone in a Discord who felt the need to announce they would be watching the Harry Potter show because they loved the movies growing up. I replied, 'All you're saying here is 'I hate trans people and want them to die', and then blocked him. Due to Discord being weird about blocks and shit, it meant the person saw that comment and replied, though I'm not gonna see what his excuses are. xD Which reminds me, time to poke Vencord into hiding blocked messages again.
I had a lil hankering to play some 'Pokémon Z-A' again, and I thought... wait, can I pair my hearing aids with my Switch 2? The answer is yes, ha ha. I'm hoping it makes shiny hunting go better, but as I've not found a shiny yet, that remains to be seen. As it were, probably should put it down for a bit, if only because I'm half-triggering my vertigo due to not having played a spinny game in a bit. I've started yet another new game of 'Project Hospital' because I'm trying to think about how to streamline stuff, so at least I'm not bereft of gaming.
I am definitely lump this morning. Noon. Crap, evening, ha ha. Oh well. Mainly just grateful we have air conditioning, because it was 27C/81F *in my house* when I woke up this morning. I'm not having that. It's currently sitting at a much comfier 19C/66C here... though it's 28C/82F in my bedroom upstairs. :s
So yeah, just. Feeling completely wiped out, hoping that the next week off will contribute to me feeling more human. Probably not, ha ha. But at least I won't be doing things, so. That's something.

Got the work thing done, back to the puttering around (metaphorically) thing now. Palworld is stupid moreish. First sock is almost done. So good. I guess. Just crossing fingers that tomorrow isn't too bad, 'cause we're off work next week, and I would like to enter that caught up.
Eep, existing persists. We went out for my spouse's belated birthday lunch, then there was a period of trying to figure out why our internet crapped out and yeah... here we are, hours later. *chuckles* S'fine.
I also had to rub brain cells together and get my shop spreadsheets up to date, as I *le gasp* had an actual order. I also realised Etsy hadn't poked me when my card on record expired back in uh, *September*, so had been holding my money all this time. Granted, my shop is hobby level, not food-getting level, but. That still feels a bit shady. But then, that's just Etsy, innit.
Anyways.
Existing persists. I don't feel as 'good' as I did yesterday, but I don't feel as bad as the day before. So that's... something? I got part of a chore done that I wanted to, so that's good too.
Less good is finding out that if eldest wants to take the bus they are currently taking, to go to the same school for sixth form, is gonna cost us £1,100 a year. Right. Because we have a spare £92 a month floating around for that. *sighs* We'll figure something out, but it's like... do you even want these kids to continue their semi-mandated education?!
Anyways. Back to games-and-yarn.
Existing! Vaguely! Got my hair washed, which was the main thing. Treated myself to an ice cream when the van came up the street, which my guts tell me wasn't the best idea. Rude? Rude. *chuckles*
Having said that, I slept super poorly yesterday, and I'm already feeling quite sleepy? Hopefully it pulls around. I'm really bored of feeling so weak that a stiff breeze could knock me over. I'd really like my body to reassure me that this isn't my new normal. ><
I have swapped out my eye piercing jewellery for what is hopefully the last time. The underside was still a bit pink, but the skin has smoothed out and the bar that was in had several millimetres sticking out. I figure having less bar to potentially whack made it an auspicious time. We'll see. xD It only took, uh... 10 months? *sheepish* Good thing I don't fancy another piercing, ha ha.
Nothing on the agenda today... most of which has passed. Accidentally slept later than intended, but ah well. All goes to healing up the body. xD
Not quite sure what the deal is, but I am feeling uber weak and floppy today. At least the temp came back down and there's a minor breeze, so we're able to enjoy fresh air rather than turning on the a/c (which I absolutely had to do yesterday all day).
((don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have the a/c, and dot have any issues with using it -- just annoyed to have to do it so early in the year.))
Anyways. Still making the best of existing. Palworld continues to be moreish. I'm making lil bits of progress on my sock.
By luck, I've got another lil window of just me time. Bliss. Spouse had a few out of the house work bits, and the kids are still at school (or well, heading for the bus right now). So yeah, double down doing nothing, ha ha. Just enjoying the psychic relief of not having to share space with anyone but cats.
My family is great, don't get me wrong -- but my introvert ass needs space. Spouse and I work so well because we're both introverts mainly doing things in our own bubbles next-ish to each other. Youngest and I share that unfortunate autistic trait of just popping bubbles and chatting at folx, which whups sorry spouse, and gah child, shoo. xD I don't hold it against her -- I know her flavours of autism are in line with mine, thorns and all.
Right. Back to games.
It's fake Friday, woo. Which is to say, our declutterer will be here tomorrow, which means I'm not too fussed about doing the work thing. This time of month is slow for me anyways, so. Spouse and I chatted briefly about what we're looking to do (he tends not to think about it in advance because he'll start stressing), and basically agreed it was taking the piles of things that still needed sorting and uh, sorting them. And then discussing better storage options for the study cupboard (which is currently full of Lego and board games haphazardly stacked).
In being back on a 'Pokémon Legends: Z-A' kick, I offered to spend £80 so spouse could have it to. And he's like, naw. I can borrow yours or youngest's copy if/when I want to play, which. Fiiiiine. *grump* I mean, I get his logic, but I've long since been resigned that it's easier for me to have my own copies of everything I want rather than risking wanting to play something at the same time as someone else.
What else... utterly unimportant, but the BTS Oreo crossover is *amazing*. The flavour is brown sugar pancake, which was was reticent about, but it's sooo good. Alas, Tesco already stopped carrying them (rude!), but I was able to get a few packs off of Amazon. Since my sugar cravings have dried up so much since starting creatine, they'll probably last a bit. Or not -- they're really tasty, hee hee.
And lo, the workweek survived. I kept my head down and got things done in a timely fashion, so nothing to worry about between now and oxt Monday. Which, good. I'm exhausted and just want to loaf.

Not a lot going on. Hoping I can crank out another pumpkin today, but if not, I've already got six in the bag. My boxes are more or less ready, and the main thing I need to do today is move my display stuff from the garage into the car. I'm waffling on whether to go buy more money from the Post Office, but I think I probably have enough, even with myself and youngest getting alll the cakes.
Well. I'll think on it a bit more, ha ha.
The headache continues to persist. I think it feels a tiny bit better for having taken some proper meds last night, but it's still pretty bad. The answer is probably something like 'drink more water', which. I don't have anything against that, but I do get hung up on the 'wah you're supposed to drink it slowly'. Mate, if I want to pound it like a deluge on hard ground, at least it's going in vaguely. :p
Anyhoos. Back to pumpkin.

I've fished my boxes down for the fayre, and I think I have what I want to sell in it (less the pumpkins). I need to bag those up. I also need to make sure I know where the cool bag is, because this bitch runs on Monster.

In good spirits today. I was very sleepy by the time bedtime rolled around, which meant that I got to sleep easier and stayed down harder. Admittedly, I did dip into my melatonin stash, and might well for a few more days -- just until this current period of stupid is passed. These usually only last a few days at most.
I'm also in good spirits 'cause our internet upgrade is complete! Bonus -- the fellow doing it grew up in this street. His youngest sibling is friends with our eldest. We were able to tell him something about his childhood home he didn't know too -- because my father-in-law was the original estate agent that sold all the houses on this street. So that was neat. Only downside of that is Vivi doesn't like? Is terrified? When strangers are in the house, so he was really upset. And he's been upset since and a bit skittish, bless him. I gave him good cuddles and reassured him, but ah well.
Good day all in all. Got my hair washed nice and early, and then eventually got my lil pumpkin present out in the post. Spouse had to pick up eldest because they finished school early, and they brought me back lunch in the form of the meal deal -- for non-Brits, supermarket sandwiches are by and large really good and fairly inexpensive.
He also brought me six packs of the BTS Oreos, 'cause they were 75p each. The flavour is brown sugar pancake, and they're just *really* good. With my sugar cravings being on the reduced side now, they should probably last me a bit. :D
Right. Back to tryyyying to focus on knitting. I want to get pumpkins made, but also like, shiny objects keep distracting me. xD
