@benroyce @dgar @geckzilla @futurebird Although Spain uses the decimal metric system, for some time now, when news programmes want to convey to the public just how large an area is (for example, a piece of land that has caught fire), they say: “An area equivalent to X football pitches has been burnt.” Sad but true.

@wyatt_h_knott @futurebird @bruce @benroyce @dgar @geckzilla "What time is it?" "It's ninety past eight"

@futurebird @benroyce @dgar @geckzilla "I get a little tired that it's always SPORTS but things are standardized in sports." This is the point: here, everything is explained using football as a comparison: it’s a monoculture, my friend! 😅😅

@enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be @randahl@mastodon.social @jakmarcin@mstdn.science @Paul_stilgar@mastodon.social I would also like to point out that, according to the United States, any increase in European countries’ defence budgets must involve the purchase of American weapons. Buying European weapons – or from any country other than the US – is NOT at all looked upon favourably by the US administration.

@VoltPaperScissors Wonderful! 😃😃😃
