My never ending quest for slightly weird photography has finally led me to a Leica of my very own! ..but not an M, oh gosh no, we’ve got ourselves here this worn out Digilux1 from 2002!
Of course the first outing with it was to a furmeet, as all good camera tests should be. Really fun not-so-little thing. I enjoy it and it shall join me in some silly adventures.

Finally got around to playing with NetBSD a little. Quite fun, feels incredibly old in the best possible ways.
Would very much like to try and get this booting on the JavaStation, once I find the time to diagnose the hardware issues it seems to have!
Still working on reducing the amount of stuff I carry with me everywhere, though I’ve gone with the messenger bag for shorter trips and already feeling a little better.
The everyday equipment has whittled down to phone, wallet, keys, diabetes kit, mints, compact camera & USB power bank. Seems to work OK!

Having driven a decent number of different cars at this point, I definitely think the mid-2000's is a sweet spot.
New enough to have creature comforts, air con, power steering, electric windows, reliable fuel injection.
Old enough to not have a ridiculous set of "helpful" driver assistance features that frankly are more distracting than much else.
Current status: Deltarune battle music playing on repeat in my head.
Aw who cares about expiry dates, we’re gonna use it regardless!

Weekend really started off super rough over life things, but ended up having a very nice (and sorely appreciated) weekend at Leicester Comic Con with @notshadowfever@lighttheunicorn.horse and @lakewoodland@mastodon.social
Acting handler/photographer, meeting the Red Dwarf cast and Brian Blessed plus just generally having a fun con. 💙

Gave Windows 98 Quickinstall a spin on an ASUS EEE 701, installing Windows ME on it. Honestly quite the success!
Video works with i915 driver (no 3D), audio works with the HD Audio beta driver. No networking, but not particularly interested in that. Runs pretty darn quick.
Kinda fun, kinda silly, I very much enjoy it.

I’ve considered writing short stories with my characters, but gosh every time I storyboard something out in my head it ends up pretty darn dark! Usually a very broken future with the world in some sort of ruins. There are lots of drafted things abandoned on my Atari.
It’d be nice to have a song attached to the end of each chapter though, music is a huge inspiration for me, can think of lots of ways to integrate that.
Might try it sometime, strictly a non-canon thing.

I would like to show some of the cool Instax photos I took today, but taking a photo-of-a-photo on my phone looks terrible and the flatbed scanner on my old laser printer is, well, a rather dire piece of technology apparently.
One day I'll figure this out, you'll have to believe me that they're kinda neat until then!
Task for this evening is to deep clean and repair the coffee machine.
Not a fun task, and one I’ve been putting off for ages, but gotta get to it!
Videography furs, have you lot had success recording outdoors (private land, not in public) with a boom mic picking up voice well while wearing a fursuit?
Throwing around some ideas and trying to determine best audio recording route. I’ve found clip-on and wireless mics pickup rustling from the suit head a lot, and I’d really rather do as little as possible audio-wise fixing in editing!

So many modern film photography channels seem to be out shooting Leica's in deserts, and while that's super cool, it's not exactly representative, I don't think.
Maybe if I can work myself up to it I should fix that and do videos with 90's late SLRs that can be had dirt cheap, and the regular film you can get anywhere easily. And absolutely host it in fursuit...
A Sure Shot you found in a drawer and taking pics in a grey-sky midlands city is a niche that needs filling more.

The "Windows XP desktop" turned out to be an old FM2+ motherboard I had three of in a drawer.
Bit of overclocking to 4.7GHz and we're good! Now just to, uh, see if I can get XP working reliably on it or back to the drawing board!
Update: Coffee machine is up and running (though without the hot milk section working, yet) so my morning is going to be at least 257% better!

I've decided to start a little silly monthly newsletter, from the perspective of Light writing like it's the early 2000s internet and interacting with other 'sonas and other folk.
Of course, I've also decided to write and design the whole thing *on* a 2000s computer. I forgot that my old iBook occasionally likes to just pop the CD drive open at random and make me jump!

Gosh it feels like CFz has snuck around again real fast. Trying to have everything somewhat ready!
We gotta go for that bulk instant ramen run again soon hah!
