Likes cats, science, sci-fi. 3 degrees, 3 ABRSM grade 5s, cycling proficiency certificate, black belt, yoga teacher, has ME.

General chaos, ooh shiny thing, cats and Scottishness.

Jan 2026 - I'm using a lot of filters to reduce cognitive load, if I don't respond, could be why.

The name won't make a bit of fucking difference unless we scour medical misogyny out of the entire medical profession.

I went to GPs twice.

In my 20s, presenting a record of my wildly irregular periods, I was told I was 'obsessed'.

In my 30s, concerned that a beard wasn't typical, I was told, "You're fat so it's PCOS. Shave if it bothers you."

This article is when I found out about insulin resistance and cardiovascular implications.

Weird dreams last night.

Planted half a dozen xenomorph embryos on a mound and covered each one with a pork chop so it would have a little snack when it woke up.

Still, feeling better this morning, even if confused!

I've had a busy four days looking after myself whilst husband attended the International Guild of Knot Tyers' Annual Symposium.

As usual, I did too much whilst unsupervised but I can sit and look at the slightly less weed-filled garden from a slightly cleaner house whilst I recover.

Was upending empty/weedy pots from along the fence line into a big tub and got startled. Lots of little insect grubs and then the soil boiled – with ants!

So we've got a nest at the bottom of the garden!

I am begging the world to stop making abominations out of other cultures' food and drink and then making them trend.

[They are putting milk and sugar in hojicha now.]

I hope this dies quickly, which it might because it isn't a pretty colour like matcha or purple yam.

Hojicha, chai, mate: What could go on to rival matcha?

From lattes to ice-cream, the Japanese tea is popping up more and more on menus across the UK.

@futtta Please forgive the link to BlueSky if it's not your thing, but I saw this today and it provides a great example for your daughter's case. Someone put the first paragraph of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein into one of these interfaces and it came back 100% AI generated. https://bsky.app/profile/jasonsanford.bsky.social/post/3mhuw4onfhk24

I agree 100% with Steven Vickers that authors will be falsely accused of using AI in the coming years. In particular, authors like myself whose works were stolen to train AI systems are at risk. When we write in our own unique styles, AI trained on us will quite likely flag us as using AI.

@freakboy3742 Scott Sigler's Galactic Football League novels are YA - possibly more teens than primary age, but they have sports merchandise for the teams: https://scottsigler.com/collections/clothing

@cstross@wandering.shop I like that. I really do. It's almost a subversive self-parasitical reference and gives me a gentle skin crawl just thinking about the implications. Very Yes.

@nicbest@mastodon.art It was a very niche reference, sorry, being a little random at the moment on account of having the flu! Do you know of Weebl and Bob? Who liked pie. And had a friend called Chris the ninja pirate, who was a mushroom. Your joke landed squarely in the W&B vibe and I was inspired to be ridiculous and ask if ye were the dread pirate Chris! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i5WH1leekM
