Fediverse Foundation

Hello Fediverse!

== Moderation bot release! ==

We're probably not the only ones struggling with bot signups and the tedium of checking applications manually for validity via the Mastodon interface, possibly having to check the sign-up IPs too just to make sure no bots slip through.

Wouldn't it be nice, I hear you say, if there were a way to streamline this workflow a bit? Well, glad you asked. We've built a bot that does exactly that, with a nice Matrix messenger integration:

• Notifies you in a dedicated Matrix room about new signups
• Enriches the message with GeoIP location lookups
• Handles any number of Mastodon instances in parallel
• ...and you can quickly approve or reject signups just by adding a "checkmark" or "cross" emoji!

Code and ready-to-run docker image here:

• https://git.fediverse.foundation/ff_pub/-/packages/container/fedi-signup-bot

Hope this helps others as well, and we're happy to hear your feedback about it!

Have a nice day :)

:fedi: Hallo Fediverse,

:FediverseFoundation: Was ist 2025 passiert?
▪️https://instapix.org (Pixelfed)
▪️https://docs.fediverse.foundation (CryptPad)
▪️PayPal Konto geschlossen

Eure,
Fediverse Foundation

:fedi: Hi Fediverse,

The end of the year is getting closer, so its time for a look back and our end-of-year-fundraiser.

:FediverseFoundation: What happened in 2025?
▪️https://instapix.org (Pixelfed)
▪️https://docs.fediverse.foundation (CryptPad)
▪️PayPal account closed
▪️@baum@norden.social joined the tech team
▪️various upgrades, maintenance jobs and other tech bla bla
▪️more in the blog: https://fediverse.foundation/en/blog/

💰 Our financial situation:
As of 31st of October we're missing about 1500€ to finish the year in the black figures. That will probably work out anyway, but if you take part in our fundraiser, you can help us put a little money aside for bad times.

🙏 Fundraiser:
If you donate now (https://fediverse.foundation/en/donations/) you can use the payment reference to write a bit about why you think supporting the Fediverse Foundation and the Fediverse is important. We'll collect the messages and publish them on our blog anonymized around the end of the year.

Thanks to everybody who participates, everybody using our instances and filling them with life and everybody who helps making the Fediverse what it is.

Your,
Fediverse Foundation
