One good thing about discover-drawing is that it's low friction.
You just start drawing some lines, follow the shapes, add shading here and there and eventually you may end up with something you like, or worst-case scenario, a page full pretty nothing.
One bad thing about discover-drawing is that, at times it can be hard to answer the question "What did you draw?"

Pink potatoes!
Yeah, they don't look very pink. It's more of a brownish color... but just wait till you give them a thorough wash.
Drawn back when I could buy pink potatoes as if it was no big deal.
Also before I discovered the advantages of drawing on a giant canvas.
Kind of overcooked it a bit, but the black background helped salvage it, I think.
