The USS Lincoln is making their first port call in over 250+ days…in Thailand. There are 20 year old Sailors with over 6 months of salary sitting in the bank that are about to set loose on a country where you can live like a literal king for $100 a day.

Leadership either needs to enforce strict liberty policies OR collect everyone’s cell phones before hitting port to limit the amount of evidence created. There are no other options.

Half marathon was a success!! Maintained a steady pace throughout the race. I thought I was going to fast and worried about dying late but the legs held strong. Afterwards I got something from the Himalayan food truck; I’m not entirely certain what Momocha is but it was delicious (especially the sauce he used). Overall a good morning #running

Sounds like chaos at the USATF Half Marathon Championship. The lead bike took the top 3 women off course at the 11 mile mark, by the time they got sorted the woman who was well ahead ended up in 9th. To make matters worse this race was the selection race for Team USA Half Marathon World Championships later this year. #running

Saturday Night Live better run “da Pope” skits every week. #television

When The Last Jedi came out one of my biggest complaints was the characterization of Luke Skywalker; gone was the hero who saw the good in everything and personified Hope, replaced by a grumpy old man who failed at everything. This depiction was especially jarring if you had read the Timothy Zahn series and subsequent novels.

Skip forward to Lanterns and the way Hal Jordan is being portrayed. He isn’t exactly the same grumpy old man but very similar. Watching the first episode made me realize this is how younger generations perceive Gen X guys: grumpy old men who can barely be motivated to share their knowledge and just want to be left alone.

It would be interesting if they pursued the “Kingpin got Karen Page hooked on heroin” storyline but there is 0% chance Disney would pursue that.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S2 was pretty good. They took the complaints from S1 (not enough monsters, the 50s characters were better) and answered them as best they could, mostly with lots of kajiu fights throughout the season. Amber Midthunder was criminally underutilized, hopefully S3 the writers will give her more to work with. #television #scifi
