mastodon 4.7.3Enterprise Architect, reluctant Okie. Also a pretty good home cook and baker. World’s Okayest dad and husband.
Kindness above all.
Trying to be an encourager here and everywhere.
I read a lot. I tell myself I read widely, history, biography. But the truth is, mostly SciFi. (A LOT of really good SciFi.)
Cover photo is an attempt at DallE-2 AI-generated art with the prompt something like "Totoro as a short order cook at Waffle House."
Had a very odd, disturbing response from #midjourney today. Marked as sensitive for that reason. #generativeart
Prompt: a surveillance still taken from a video of a worker in the process of slipping and falling in an office breakroom --chaos 75
@davidallengreen@mastodon.green Well, don’t stop there!
"It is silent now. But I have stood here when the whole air was full of Hashtag jokes; the trampling of hot takes, the cracking of wit and the groaning of puns, the thunder of outrage. I have stood here (but that was near the end) when the roar of battle went up from every trending topic and the firehose of Twitter ran red." He paused and added, "All in one moment one man blotted it out forever."
@jerry@infosec.exchange I think the genetic dynasty, which they made up, is brilliant. S2e2 kind of a mess, IMO.
@danhon@dan.mastohon.com Is this voluntary or involuntary hosting of such a concert? Seems like that’s going to be the main rub.
Also, this sounds like a Stephenson novel. “Joint Swift Strike Force, Southern Command.”
Probably need one for each theater. Taylor would need her own F15 and pilot.
@danhon@dan.mastohon.com Once my wife's grandma asked her to fax, like, a banana somewhere.
No grandma, we didn't invent teleportation and just forget to tell you. It would have come up.
The great thing about recovering from bronchitis is how affirming everyone is. "Wow! That cough sounds bad!"
@smallsco@oldbytes.space I was hired as the first "webmaster" of my small university in 1995. Our boss bought us an Apple QuickTake 100. 640x480. We thought it was miraculous.
@thebaywindowgirl@toot.community @ShittyCameraChallenge@photog.social I'm really loving the grain and the soft color gradations on these.
@josh@cunnin.me I'll tell you what I love about it: Stephenson's dense writing, oblique references, which I feel like an insider when I catch. I love his world building, the absurdity (Hiro Protagonist!) Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong, Cosa Nostra Pizza and the whole hullaballoo around the 30-minute guarantee, the anarcho-capitalist dystopia taken to absurdity.
Have you read any of his others? I particularly love The Diamond Age.
Why aren't we talking in the culture about caring for aging parents, and how hard it is? It almost feels like it's a taboo subject, or nobody cares?
Maybe because middle-aged people are basically dead to the cultural zeitgeist?
Me: "Siri, remind me to pick up City Bites at 11:40" (City Bites is a deli)
Siri: "Stacey Fight - 11:40"
@chiefgyk3d@social.chiefgyk3d.com @mastohost@mastodon.social Threads growth is kind of insane right now. I suspect its responsiveness will improve with scaling. This has got to be costing them so much money.
