First Monday back at work after #EMFCamp is the Mondayest Monday there is. I am back to my routines, back to my cats, out of the sun and back to reliable food sources, but also incredibly sad and missing all the lovely people I spent 2 weeks in a field with

This is Arthur. He is very shy and a bit anxious, but speaks in entire sentences to me. I don't really know what he's saying in most of them, but we both work hard to understand each other. He takes blood thinners. He is very playful. He likes to tease his brother and his human, but also looks after us a lot. He likes plush catnip toys, his climbing wall, being admired from a distance, watching TV from his corner of the sofa, rides around the house on the exercise mat and dentabites.

Saturday, more tents have arrived. A little cooler than Friday

TIL after volunteering to wrangle some fire extinguishers - these are 50% bigger and heavier than the ones we had last time. Please still do not be on fire

Packing up to leave #EMFCamp is always sad, but the most sadness I will have this morning is from having to shave before I go back to the outside world. Hopefully my facial hair won't be quite so patchy in 2 years time.

I still haven't done a proper introduction, but maybe I should start with the reason this account exists. In 2022 I found myself attending my first ever #EMFCamp, as a member of the site team. This is not the gentlest way to be introduced to EMF, but I am back for the third time this year. This means I am away from two of the three most important boys in my life for 15 days (the other most important boy is the reason I am here). It is an amazing thing to be involved with, but I miss and worry about my cats A Lot. This year I have a very silly project. I want people to use #EMFCamp26 telephone network to fax me drawings of cats (other animals also accepted). If I can figure out connecting up a very kindly donated fax machine, I will share drawings here. Also cat pictures of my own. I have yet to properly introduce my cat family, but I should get around to that soon

I don't want to move fast and break things. I want to move with due care and create/mend/build things. Sure, some things need to be torn down, but if we build nothing to replace them, we just end up resurrecting the same world

As is the way of things, several things I really wanted to do at #EMFCamp were happening at the same time. Really sad I didn't make it to the Maths Jam last night, those people are my nerds, but I did spend time with some lovely people

This is Merlin. He is made of drama, snuggles and loose fur. He has one miaow, designated General Distressed Miaow Number 1, but many different purrs. He has arthritis and a heart condition. He likes cat bells, pens, bits of paper, corks and attention. He is mostly very grouchy, but will happily play catch, be brushed or watch Doctor Who with me.

Spent Tuesday evening off-site at a lovely nearby campsite. Access to the cool water of a private swimming lake was just the thing after 3+ hours in a van with no air conditioning. In the heat of this afternoon I cannot stop thinking about that lake

Thursday, hotter still, a break under the dappled shade of a tree #EMFCamp

Home from #EMFCamp and woke up in my own bed, which somehow feels bigger than the van bed despite being exactly the same size. No sound of telehandlers reversing. Just the meows of two precious boys who have never been fed, definitely not by the cat sitter, and demand back pay with interest. They were both very sulky when we got back, and Merlin had a list of complaints, but they are fine. Cat cuddles were had once they had made their disapproval known. The cat sitter has done a great job, despite being new and only having had one weekend beforehand to get to know them. Yesterday was a really sad day. I am so glad to be back with my cats, but not to be back in the outside world. I told someone yesterday to make a corner of their outside world a bit more EMF. I should start figuring out how I do that too
