Did you know that independent bookstores have their day? Yes, today, so I'm giving a shoutout to Burrowing Owl Books in Amarillo and Canyon—a wonderful and indie-friendly place.
And did you know that if you order from Bookshop.org, you can support your chosen indie store? And my books are there too!
Sanguine Scenario got its first review on NetGalley, and it's a glowing one! If you'd like to read it too before everyone else, it's available this month. And if you don't use NetGalley but would like to review it, just drop me a line requesting an ARC!
Today is exactly one year since the release of my standalone fantasy thriller. Memories of Sorcery and Sand might be the best book I've ever written, but also the strangest and possibly the darkest one.
If you haven't read it yet, get it anywhere you shop for books:

This month, I'm turning 45, and to celebrate, I'm offering 45% off all my e-books. The catch? You have to get it from my store. The benefit? You own the file, and the discount stacks with bundle discount.
And if you don't want books, eat a piece of cake for me! 😉

Nothing like a lying scammer to start your day.
Authors beware, "book club" scams had made it to Mastodon (and if you need information how this has all the tell tales of scam, even if I wasn't aware of book club scams, just send me a DM and I'll give you details).
Just a reminder that I have a complete epic fantasy series. If you like complex magic systems and multilayered plots, check out Pacts Arcane and Otherwise.
And book 1 is free: https://bf.authorjm.com/ByThePact
After long years of journeying, she's finally back. She can't see the sun of her homeworld anymore, but she can feel its warmth.
I rarely do portraits, but I was playing around with creating an older female, so here it is. No AI.

Which one is your favorite?
Happy Winter Solstice!
Winter is officially here in the northern hemisphere, but it doesn't necessarily mean you like it. Though reading with a hot beverage under a blanket is nice, isn't it? When you read, do you try to escape winter or embrace it?
Either way, I got you covered!
Escape winter with By the Pact or embrace it with Humanborn. Both are free now & available in all the online stores:

Heads up, Gumroad has silently changed the payout minimums for bank/Stripe. It used to be $10, and now it's... $100. This was not communicated at all.
I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know if not giving 30 days advance notice is legal, but it definitely doesn't instill trust.
I was planning to open another account with Gumroad, for an unrelated endeavor (but who knows, maybe they silently changed that too and I wouldn't be able to anyway), but instead, I'll be abandoning the platform and making sure to tell everyone considering it to stay away too.
Sanguine Scenario has now 25 followers on Kickstarter, so it's time for the interior art reveal! If you'd like to see 5 illustrations that will be inside the book, head over to Kickstarter and read the update:

Unicorns don't seem to be popular species anymore. You can find quite a few in the classic fantasy stories, but nowadays, they seem to have lost their luster and disappeared in the shadows. Do you recall any recently (let's say 5 years) published books that have them?
Since I caught some kind of virus or other ailment, here's a fun question for today: what would be the most important ingredients of a Cure All Diseases Potion? Traditional eye of newt? Apple core and orange peel? GARLIC? Or maybe something outrageous like… Share your ideas.
Indie April seems like a good time to re-introduce myself, so… Hi! ヾ(＾∇＾)
Over the next few days, I'll also share a bit about my published books and a sneak peek into what's coming next.

I know April's Fools was last week, but I can't resist sharing another funny render. This one is titled "Forbidden Fruit," and it should explain it all…
