I'm a Queer Autistic Welsh European w/ Plaid Cymru membership card. I'm trans nonbinary w/ ADHD. I struggle being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world, having a gender+sexual diverse identity in a cisheteronormative world w/ entrenched gender apartheid. I'm an internationalist, progressive, liberal socialist trying to love more, hate less, forgive faster. I struggle w/ why I still believe in God. I never knew mam+dad but my heart yearns for mam's cwtch. ❤️ #FBPE #DysguCymraeg #Annibyniaeth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇪🇺

Hello. I've had a terrible few weeks, then yesterday I had a grocery delivery from hell, well, from Tesco actually, but you know what I mean. Usually I open the door and trays are waiting for me at my doorstep. I have a box I unpack the trays and load up the box. They tell me if there are any substitutions, etc. They go away. I say thanks. Job well done. Literally maximum of 2-5 minutes of interaction.

Yesterday, 2 delivery personnel arrived, rather than the usual 1. There was a knock on the door. I prefer they use the door bell. I opened the door. One tray was at my doorstep. One of the people shouted at me "hello how are you". I looked up startled and it was horrendous. I went straight into trauma mode. I masked the whole time from then. He just kept talking to me. He kept asking personal questions about how long I'd lived there. I just wanted to transfer goods from tray to box but I just kept talking to him. I just wanted him to shut the f*ck up!

I can't help wondering if the other delivery person has delivered to me before and he thought I was rude as I don't really talk but I felt like they thought I was a danger to them so he needed protection. My brain can't process what was happening. I felt like a rabbit in headlights. I couldn't go inside until I'd unpacked the tray.

I haven't been able to sleep with the anxiety. I've tried messaging Tesco via WhatsApp but it was 3:33am and they said they'd pass onto an agent on the next working day. My WhatsApp messages don't connect with their automated system now. I started asking to speak to an agent after the time it's supposed to be open but nothing happens. Guess I'll try tomorrow or Monday.

I'm exhausted. I've done nothing wrong but I feel as if I've been accused of something. It's so distressing. I wish people would respect our boundaries and limitations and stop trying to get us to be like them. I probably appeared rude but never dangerous. Going into a store isn't feasible as I'm not able to handle it.

I've used Tesco for 12 months and everything seemed fine. It was a good experience until yesterday. I don't want to change but I might have to.

I was blocked on Bluesky earlier today coz I said there should be a "content warning" facility like we have on Mastodon after someone posted the Rugby match score.

I just think it's good manners when it comes to our national sport to include a spoiler warning so not to spoil someone's enjoyment if they're planning to watch later in the day.

Most of us remember watching BBC Grandstand on Saturday afternoon. They used to say a disclaimer before reading out the scores: "if you don't want to know the results look away now" (or something like that).

Anyway... they blocked me... But I refuse to shed a tear over losing them! 🤷😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What's next? For those who need a reminder, here's what Plaid Cymru have already told us Welsh Government will do in the first 100 days of their brand new first term in office. They clearly have a plan to hit the ground running. New Leadership for Wales. Arwain Cymru O'r Newydd. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Chills on the back of my neck. Tears in my eyes. This clip shows whole crowd at Senedd yesterday, with our new First Minister singing along - no miming - remember John Redwood in 1993!

Cymru has come so far in 33 years. We deserved better. We voted for it. Cymru Am Byth! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

@druid@toot.wales Isn't Hay near the English border though? I'd expect an England-centric mentality in that region. They tend to vote Liberal (not Labour) and Conservative (aka Reform). It isn't difficult to imagine they'd migrate to Reform rather than Plaid. Liberal Democrats have just 1 MS & 1 MP in Wales, and they both represent the same people. Come Friday, I'd be shocked if Jane Dodds wasn't the only Welsh Liberal MS in that region. 🙂

@druid@toot.wales As a progressive, what I fear most, aren't those placards you saw today in conservative heartlands, rather the shy Reform voter I can't see. Polls say it's Reform vs Plaid, but conservatives have never had this much support in Wales, so for this repugnant ReformUK to be a very real threat to progressives on Thursday, in our Wales, is absolutely terrifying to me.

@AutisticInnovator It nearly killed me when I lost my temper with mine. They've both gone now a few years, and it was only cos my ADHD was so bad I couldn't get anything done. My cognitive abilities were so confused and slow, and my emotions out of control. My apartment's a complete mess, and nothing's improved. They needed me but I couldn't be there for them as I wanted to. They were the world to me. Same for you I suspect. Cats are the perfect pet for me at least my two were. They were constant companions. I'm sure they'll be there for you even when you aren't the perfect tenant in their home. 😊

Hello all. In your opinion, what's the best (least clinical) book for autism / autistic folk like us. I'm perusing my local library online and there's a few so thought I'd ask the community for advice. For instance, there's "Autism For Dummies". That's kinda the level of book I'm looking for. Nothing too technical, something non-clinical, if you get my drift. I'm not buying any yet. I'll borrow and browse before buying. So there's nothing riding on any reviews. I'm just interested to hear what you think. If there are any books that illuminated your journey of self-discovery. Thanks muchly. ♾️ 🙂 @autistics@fedigroups.social

@pathfinder @autistics Hello Kevin. Persons who aren't autistic don't generally think about autistic persons. I'm not a wheelchair user and I rarely consider if a building has appropriate access for persons who use wheelchairs. It took government legislation to force architects, businesses, etc., to become aware of the needs of persons who use wheelchairs. It took awareness, campaigning, political lobbying, to force through changes, and our society now perceives wheelchair users differently than they did in 1960s. Wheelchair users now occupy positions in society that they wouldn't if society hadn't started to make accommodations to meet their needs. Surely the first step is to raise awareness of our existence. As we raise awareness, we educate, we inform, we increase understanding. We slowly and gradually take society on a journey to understand that autistic persons (persons with autism), we are there, around them, working alongside them, living alongside them, loving alongside them. But as with physically differently-abled persons with a need for things like accommodation for chairs, etc., we also need accommodations to allow us to live on equal terms with neurotypical persons who outnumber us. Just my opinion, for what it's worth. Other opinions are available. Have a great evening. Take care. 🙂

@AutisticInnovator Does your system just need more time to adjust to two pills? Maybe if you continue with 2 pills daily those experiences will stop?

@caemmett@mastodonapp.uk Hello CAEmmett, hope you're well. Thanks for your comment. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to dismiss anybody. I'm assuming you were referring to my comment that COVID is now under control? Presumably folk who are immune compromised are at greatest risk of many other medical issues not just COVID. I meant for the vast majority of the population it's under control.

If governments and state medical services aren't catering to your specific needs I hope you have contacted your democratically elected representatives to raise the issue in your parliament.

What I said was out of benign ignorance that you were not being taken care of. Presumably deaths from COVID is currently a higher percentage for those who are immune compromised. That really is a scandal which should be brought to the attention of the general public. You'll have my full support if you raise an official petition to raise the issue in Parliament and I'll contact my representatives to bring the petition to their attention.

I apologise for any distress I may have inadvertently caused to you or others in your position. Take very good care of yourself. 🙂

Thought I'd let you in on a little secret, I've just signed up for email newsletters from the Welsh Government. Don't tell anyone cos they'll all want one, and then we might have an involved citizenship, and then we'd have a democracy to be proud of... Where will it all end! 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Why is it "Dros Gymru" rather than "Dros Cymru"?

Is there a simply rule where the C always becomes G in certain circumstances? Or is this something more complicated I'll need to learn as I grow in understanding of the mechanics of our language? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I see accounts in "bird makeup" server. I believe they are the equivalent of the bridge for Twitter as the bridge accounts are with Bluesky? Is that correct? Are they trustworthy? Is it safe to follow accounts in that server?
