@ben@mastodon.lubar.me I remember Psychonauts 2 does this; each main area of the game loads all sub-areas (if any) at the same time in the same map, to reduce how often it needs to load (and to work with intentionally, obviously-impossible geometry given the mental world gimmick); the only major difference is the spaces are also kept somewhat far away from each other in addition to their skyboxes keeping them enclosed
