#WikimediaFoundation had a deadline of 24 July 2026 to voluntarily recognise #WikiWorkersUnitedUS [1], the newly created union of #WMF employees in the US. On 27 July, WMF replied "No!" [2], with "an incredibly disappointing statement" and an FAQ that "might as well have been pulled directly from a UnionBusting 101 handbook" [3] and "reek[s] of #UnionBusting disinformation" [3], per community analysis. @wwu@social.wikiworkersunited.org [1] https://wikiworkersunited.org/announcements/2026-07-20-us-demands-voluntary-recognition [2] https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/2026/07/27/statement-cwa-recognition-request [3] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28WMF%29#Recent_questions_about_the_Foundation_and_US_unionization_request

Please take a moment to pause this #wikimania and realise that wiki was just fine before the #WMF and will almost certainly continue to be fine after the #WMF Forks are hard because negotiating common cause with other folks is hard, but we need to be negotiating common cause anyway. If your common cause is not being reflected by WMF leadership and paid staff, have a think about why that might be.

I have a #wikipedia draft I'd like feedback on, particularly from #museum / #gallery / #GLAM types: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Stuartyeates/Signs_of_a_Nation_exhibition_panel_of_the_Treaty_of_Waitangi_English_text_altered_by_Te_Waka_Hourua I'll be looking to submit it in the next couple of weeks. Any feedback greatly appreciated. #WMF #wikimedia #nzpol

Looking for advice on places to ask about booststrapping a currently-dormant #WMF #wiktionary In particular, I want to get referencing and citation templates up to date. Moving content from en.wiktioary gives me things like: https://mi.wiktionary.org/wiki/User:Stuartyeates/testpage/0004 #Wikipedia #WANZ @wikimediaaotearoa@mastodon.social

#wiktionary folks, can you please send me your best entries? Some complete non-techies have asked for some tech help and I need exemplars to talk over on the way to a shared understanding. It's a minority language wikitionary, but examples in any language happily received. #Wikimedia #WMF

Looking for someone who is reasonably familiar with both #wikidata and #wikisource to help me work out the right way to link bidirectionally between them. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q559857 is mentioned in the first paragraph of https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Municipal_and_Official_Handbook_of_the_City_of_Auckland,_New_Zealand/The_City_of_Auckland How do I encode that at each end? #wikimedia #WMF
