Your reminder that fireworks create all the usual air pollution—sulfur dioxide and fine particulate matter, which is measured by the air quality index—but also seed the air with toxic metals (manganese, cadmium, aluminum). "Milk sickness is a kind of poisoning that affects individuals who ingest milk, other dairy products, or meat from a cow that has fed on the white snakeroot plant, which contains the poison tremetol." "Dr. Anna Pierce Hobbs Bixby is credited with identifying the plant in the 1830s. Legend has it that she was taught about the plant's properties by a Shawnee woman." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_sickness https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ageratina_altissima#Toxicity #histsci #histnat #histmed #womeninSTEM

I'm out. Fuck this toxic ass platform. Follow me on Threads if you want to talk to me in the future. I'll leave my account up for a few days just in case any mutuals wanna see this and follow me there. Afterwards, I'll be deleting my Fedi accounts and no longer pushing Fediverse anywhere else. I cannot in good faith recommend a place with such toxicity and no control. #Fediverse #Fedi #SocialMedia #Toxicity
