Vision of another era We were lucky to see some of the last caribou south of the St. Lawrence River at the summit of Mont Jacques-Cartier. They are the last representatives of the large herds of woodland caribou that once occupied southern Quebec. The woodland caribou herd of the mountain ecotype is now estimated at about 30 animals in the park. Mount Jacques-Cartier, Gaspésie National Park. September 2026. #ThrowBackThursday #hiking #mountains #wildlife #lichensubscribe #lichen #quebec #canada #photography

There's not much else in nature which is the colour of Lichen. I have no idea what you would call it, "grey-green" maybe? I think "Lichen" will have to do. Here's a lovely little patch of British Soldiers, or Devils Matchsticks or whatever people call it - but maybe not big enough red caps for those. In reality, it's a Cladonia some sort - my ID skills aren't up to getting any closer these days. On moorland somewhere up north. #Lichen #Nature

Maritime Sunburst Lichen, Xanthoria Parietina. Spotted this one on a tree on my street. Unlike a lot of lichens, it is somewhat tolerant to air pollution, apparently. I took this using my new camera's focus stacking feature that take multiple photos at different focal lengths and then combines them, which meant I had to use a tripod. Taken on a Canon R7 with a 100mm macro lens. #lichens #lichen #macrophoto #lichenphoto #canoncanada #canonr7 #ShareCanGeo
