Thank you so much for this post. It is so important that we acknowledge and are proud of the fact, that we as autistic, as AuDHD, as disabled people are constantly living life in the hard mode in a world that hasn't been made for us. This is what disability pride is about. It made us stronger. The ones of us who survived until now, but many did not. We always have to keep that in mind. That we made it up to here, every day we survive in this ableist system is something we can be proud of. But while trauma makes us develop skills and the challenges we face contribute to our personal growth, it also kills many of us, disables us even more. It should not be like that.
What really makes people strong is community, validation and an environment that supports our individual strengths and accommodates our needs. By now the autistic community has enough knowledge to provide these things for the older ones and the younger generations, although there is still so much to discover about our neurodivergence.
But as you said, the people in power, the people who could make these changes don't care about that and make life worse for everyone instead. And we have the right to be angry about that. Because that is part of disability pride too. To direct the anger against whom it belongs. Not against ourselves, but against this ableist system and the people who uphold it.
