@gamingonlinux@mastodon.social I wouldn't say it was massively overblown. It went under fast because they didn't address it properly. Plus not just that. Their first day of June (which is when Pride Month begins, worldwide) started with them releasing "HATRED" - a game glorifying mass shooting, with a description that is echoing what homophobes think of LGBTQIA+ people, like myself and many people in the fediverse. And no, the newsletter thing wasn't an accident or an unfortunate coincidence. They knew well enough NOT to send it to German users because of the legal trouble they'd get in if they did. Except they forgot to exclude Germany-based users who use English interface (hello, I'm one of those!). And we probably shouldn't mention their undisclosed usage of AI generated promo material, or their transphobic edgy joke - https://dailydot.com/parsec/gog-transphobic-joke - something that happened again more recently as well. I used to recommend them because of the DRM free nature of their shop. But ALL of this? Can't defend this. No one should.

Everyone be like "oh my [brand] PC case is made of [buzzword_material] and it is so GOOD!"

OK, sure whatever.
But when I get a PC Case made of Sapient Pearwood, my future PC will eat you alive. Then what?!

@_elena@mastodon.social The fact people use bluesky knowing they were OK Platforming Nazis, Far-Rightists, conspiracy theorists and phobes of various elements was already bad. Knowing people are still using the platform after ICE created an account there says a lot about their userbase.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games OK so that helps a bit more with advice! (Bias incoming though lol)

Mega Drive:

  • Shining Force I and II, Landstalker, Shining in the Darkness,

SEGA Saturn (SESa)

  • Dragon Force, Shining the Holy Ark, Shining Force 3, Nights into Dreams, Panzer Dragoon (1, 2, SAGA) Dark Saviour,

Dreamcast (DC):

  • Time Stalkers, Skies of Arcadia,

Multiplatform:

  • Sonic R (Gamecube may be the best option: very short game, fantastic OST), Shenmue (DC, PC remaster), Grandia (SESa/PS1/Switch/PC), Grandia 2 (DC/PS2/PC/Switch).

Special Mentions of fanmade games I think are worth playing:

  • Sonic Triple Trouble 16bit (Fanmade game based on the old Sonic Triple Trouble game, made by Noah N. Copeland. It's really good and it runs on Android, PC, Linux, Mac, SteamDeck, you name it.)

  • Sonic Robo Blast 2 (Sonic fangame made on a doom engine - it is a fantastic game but can be a bit weird to get into due to how movement works).

Elsewise: anything on the Saturn/Dreamcast, as those consoles have fantastic libraries!

@eniko@peoplemaking.games What would you personally consider "chill" and would emulation be ok for you? Retro... hmmm. Nights Into Dreams (Sega Saturn/PC) Dragon Force (Sega Saturn) Myst (PC, imo the best point-and-click adventure game ever made. There's a remake but the original is also available on GoG, which I highly recommend getting) Heroes of Might And Magic 3 (PC) Fantasy General (PC) Chu Chu Rocket (DreamCast, pretty good puzzle game) Megaman Battle Network Series ("chill" is pretty subjective here, I think it is). Anno 1602 (don't get the steam version, get it on GoG). Dust: An Elysian Tail (PC, I think it's Chill and it's a pretty platformer!) I know you wanted Pokemon to be excluded but one that I will always recommend is "Mystery Dungeon", which I feel is a very cute spin on the game and often goes unmentioned on how good it actually is. There are many more I could recommend but I am fairly sure what I consider "chill" may not be chill for other folks c:

@bflipp@vmst.io There are many reasons for people to stay at a job for over 4 years other than pay rises.

  • stability is actually a good thing - especially the older one gets, the harder it is to find a new job in certain areas;
  • proximity to one's residence;
  • field of work and scarcity of similar jobs;
  • lack of resources to move residence;
  • lack of job opportunities to allow for a job change;
  • coworkers: working with people you get along with actually helps a great deal;
  • many neurodivergent people have different reasons as to why they don't change jobs often.
  • Changing jobs often might be good for a prospective rise in pay, but ultimately it will fuck you over long term when people start asking you "Why do you have a new job every x months/years?" And you will be lucky if you are asked that, and not have prospective employers assume you just suck and aren't reliable enough to hire.

It's not a matter of being "a cuck", it's a matter of being responsible.
