mastodon 4.7.3I work in technology with a lot of different hats, and have sporadic bursts of social media activity before vanishing for an indeterminate amount of time.
I'm running a session at work next week on AI and it's impact on the environment. I've prepped some slides that include your classic audience participation quiz (guess how much water an AI generated emails consumes, etc etc).
As part of the org's accessibility and inclusion, all session slides are sent to attendees ahead of time - something I was logically aware of, but failed to process.
So my slides have just been sent out, including the answers to my audience Q&A section.
Thursday, so it's #LT3 again.
This week we look at Aithos Research Foundations' report that, basically, no AI model is legally compliant.
Also, we look at a daring display of defiance against Meta at Hay Festival, Starmer caught using disappearing messages on his phone (also, I thought using E2EE was bad, Keir?), and the Competition and Markets Authority force Google to play nice with publishers.

A post about Gmail's incessent AI nagging from @jp@polymaths.social helped me crystalise some thoughts about the ways in which AI is stripping away our ability to consent:
Oh shit, maybe doing it is a good idea after all...?

I just renewed my mortgage from the browser on my phone. As a millennial, this felt deeply wrong. If anything is a big purchase / big screen situation, surely it should be a mortgage?
