That means they figure that less ethical organizations will fill the gap, or they dont really care about security, etc in the first place.

@grimalkina Please feel free to tell your spouse that their work is appreciated. My most memorable (in a good way!) teachers were in the sciences, and in English. Thanks to the latter, I know how to convey my thoughts cogently (but not concisely, alas). Thanks to the former, I can detect some variants of bullshit waay better than I might otherwise, and can reason about how something works, or how to solve a practical problem. All of these come in handy on a near-daily basis.

@someone_else@infosec.exchange @dan@discuss.systems I just got a new dishwasher. Certain (not often used, thank goodness) cleaning cycles are only available via "the app". I made a conscious decision to forego access to these so I would not need to put the thing on the network. But it's very annoying that this tradeoff even needed to be considered. Bosch 800 series, in case anyone cares.
