mastodon 4.7.3Python, Perl, and C language systems programmer on UNIX. All puns are welcome here. I read so many light novels that I spend much of my free time with an online light novel book club. I'm interested in most creative stuff, but I lose interest if it is sales instead of showing. I don't post that much, also check my pinned introduction. #wss366
Just laid off along with whole team. I'm in the middle of moving. Movers coming on Saturday. I'm not done packing. Good: time to finish packing. Goodish: cheaper rent at new locale. Bad: older guy computer programmer, but not even in COBOL [C, Perl, Python, PL-SQL, RedHat and Debian Linux. Created a custom RPM just Friday.]
Looking. CT / NYC / remote.
"Oh, wow, nice rack."
Sue looked at him to see where he was looking. 'He's fine,' she thought, and decided to meet him where he's at. "It's the same model Linus has in his basement, though I didn't get the orange paint job."
"Oh, I'm much more excited by the equipment. Do I see a vintage SunBlade?"
"That's not vintage, it's from 2006."
"Wait? What does vintage mean to you?"
She thought about it and realized that it is 20 years old. "Dave, you are younger than I thought."
I did a lot of mansplaining in my 20s without meaning to. Seriously, someone I respected told me that it is important that when I learn something from someone, I should say it back to them so they can correct anything I lost in the learning.
I can pretend that I don't still shake with embarrassment when I found out how so many women took that repeat-back that I was literally taught to do... but no, I still bury my head in my hands from those memories.
Don't MIME SO LOUDLY! I need silence.
