uhhuhthem

(this is a note to self after I overheard-- was not even involved in-- three women talking about a man who one of them was having a weird time with and it turns out he was being weird with all of them AND ME to varying degrees but all of us were just like idk wtv this is probably fine)

@stooge@438punk.house so, they were set to play films for regards palestiniens in like nov or dec 2023 and they cancelled due to "stakeholder pressure" and they've never really said anything about that, let alone made reparations or anything like that. they're run by the same giant arts org as cinemas du musee and beaubien (maybe others) who get their massive amount of funding from a lot of private donors etc. this is the only one of the things on the list that I'm genuinely sad about bc I loved going there tbc I really do mean everything on this list is me holding a grudge rather than any meaningful kind of boycott. I'm just incapable of forgetting once I'm aware of things like this

Satón - cdmx 'snare of truth' post-hardcore, the absolute best and most generous people https://satonmx.bandcamp.com/album/gist #punkhouseplaylist

Annapura - cdmx hardcore with crust leanings and live no-input noise https://annapura.bandcamp.com/album/v #punkhouseplaylist

@flamingtelepaths@438punk.house pals worked there at the time and have tried to find me those emails but alas I have not personally seen them

@vorboyvo@mstdn.isometry.group a couple years ago their sundae of the week was called "make quebec great again" which like probably is just out-of-touch white french people and you can decide whether that's a cancellable offence or wtv but esp considering that it saves me $15+ on overpriced ice cream throughout the summer, I'm fine cutting them out

Wohl - guadalajara instrumental solarpunk https://wohl.bandcamp.com/track/dai #punkhouseplaylist #solarpunk

I would try to rate these projects but honestly they would all be 10/10 for me. Satón curated a perfect lineup and it is an incredible honour that we were included. we only hope we can return the favour somehow

Luna Sedata - mérida screamo https://lunasedata.bandcamp.com/track/flores-en-hashima-2 #punkhouseplaylist

'snare of truth' is an inside joke, it's what the hamilton punks call Gabo's snare bc you always have to turn the mic wayyyyy down

Leñadores - puebla post-hardcore-punk https://lenadoresmx.bandcamp.com/album/fortem-fvtvrvm #punkhouseplaylist

@flamingtelepaths@438punk.house unofficially but supposedly there is evidence of it being an intentional move on their part to get all the street-involved people out so they could have their lunches there

Grave / Mal - guadalajara trans post-punk duo https://grave.bandcamp.com/album/todo-acaba #punkhouseplaylist

Fumata - cdmx crushing sludge https://fumata.bandcamp.com/album/split-w-void-oath #punkhouseplaylist

Bombardero - veracruz blistering hardcore punk https://bombardero.bandcamp.com/album/la-alegr-a-de-los-incomprendidos-2 #punkhouseplaylist

Soga - cdmx punk / queercore, one of the sickest drummers I've seen. hopefully catch them at NNB https://soga.bandcamp.com/album/corrosi-n #punkhouseplaylist

@ritualdust@merveilles.town it is actually insane how good this is

@LRayneHubbard@438punk.house bless all the spiteful bitches

@bloor @VanisleJay

@hi_cial@donphan.social oh absolutely

@j12i@weirder.earth oh ours is https://jetsammtl.bandcamp.com/
