Dear small business owners: I will accept, nay, appreciate if you have your kid, local teenager, or local starving artist do your graphics rather than some creepy looking AI generated slop.
It may not look as slick, but I and many with me, will be more likely to see your business in a positive light.
You work hard to make product locally and maybe you even create local jobs. Don't waste that goodwill by sullying your public image with slop. #ai #graphics #advertising
We saw a cute kestrel hanging out on a wire nearby, but I didn't get a very good shot of it #birding

"Ikke tilgjengelig utenfor Norge". Dårlig gjort av #nrk å geoblokkere videoene fra kongens begravelse slik at vi i utlandet ikke får sett dem #norsktut

This is something the defenders of data centers need to keep in mind: once it is built, there are virtually no human jobs in it.
That's true already for modern days centers, but will be even more so with automation efforts like these. No humans means no secondary benefits from people moving in or patronizing local businesses. All the reasons for those huge tax breaks don't apply.
Iit's a great way to turn your community into a ghost town.

@sergio_101@social.sixdegreesofohio.com yep I'm already working on making a vibe coded app production ready. It's not bad though. This is an app that doctors have prototype, using their clinical knowledge, then they gave it to me to make sure it's production ready with all the backend, security measures, etc. When done well, it's actually a good way to get "specs" that are tested and proven to work. Saves a lot of back and forth and we're still ending up with a good product that is both clinically and technically robust.

@sergio_101@social.sixdegreesofohio.com yeah it's great for starting out projects where you're not too familiar with the sdk. However, I (try to) make sure I understand all the code and use it to teach me. I may have to fix it maintain it down the road so I have to know how it works. Also, that's my name on the commit :) I really like rubber ducking with it though. It helps me focus on a solution quicker than reading docs and searching SO.

@sergio_101@social.sixdegreesofohio.com how much do you use speech to text? Do you use it for programming?

@sergio_101@social.sixdegreesofohio.com yep that's pretty much how I use AI at work as well. We get GitHub Copilot with a set number of tokens. I use it for trivial but tedious stuff and coach it like I would a junior dev. I too have used it to create tools I always wanted but didn't find time to make. I still do a lot (most?) of my own programming, because a) it tends to go off on tangents and get lost, and b) I burn through tokens fast if I use it for everything.

We also ran Linux from a subdirectory on the Windows partition, back in the day, but that didn't mean it was a good idea 😁
A universal truth of social media is: no matter how diplomatic or carefully you word something, someone will find a reason to be offended by it. Touch some grass, people. Jeez.
