Wikipedia offers free copies of all available content! Yes, you can legally download the entire Wikipedia in your language for offline usage here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download
Feed this to your local running LLM or use other free tools to make it conveniently usable.
@saxnot@chaos.social @bazkie@beige.party @nixCraft@mastodon.social I fully agree. I just wanted to show a solution that if Wikipedia online database somehow disappears or gets purposely manipulated with false information, you can have the entire database as offline backup to preserve our knowledge.

Finally someone who gets it.
Rather use Ecosia or Qwant which now both created their own European search index.
Ecosia also have optional AI search.

#Google has announced that #android will become a locked-down platform as of September 2026. Unverified #apps can’t be sideloaded on Android anymore soon.
Users will no longer have the choice to install and run whatever software they want unless your app developers decide to register and verify their personal identity for the Android platform centrally with google.
Alternative app store's like #fdroid are threatened by this. Learn how to support at https://keepandroidopen.org/
