I post mutual aid and donation opportunities on this account. Also whatever else I want.

Okay time for my weekly AI/LLM sniping: So I learned that an allegedly important "AI Skill" is "context management" ie, managing the context of LLMs via prompts to prevent "context decay" or whatever--and I am begging *anyone* to explain how someone with basic level critical thinking couldn't just pick that up intuitively. Like anyone with a degree in the humanities is likely to figure it out with little trouble imo. Reply ppl welcome--I'm trying to see something. #AI #ContextManagement

it's really weird how a saxophone solo from a scene where a black boy gets shot in the back has become popularized and reproduced as a sound representing the most minor of inconveniences. it's almost like black life is devalued or something

Anyway I'm thinking we should start the Juneteenth reparations thread early and just go through the entire summer. Black ppl get your links and mutual aid asks together.

Let's try to make it extra big this year. Let's make pro-Black mutual aid a living, breathing infrastructure on fedi. I know there are a growing number of us sharing links and threads and things, can we link up?

Reproductive Justice as a term emerges bc a white-dominated feminist movement focused on issues of abortion and birth control when it came to reproduction, while women of color were largely concerned with forced sterilization, maternal and infant mortality, and social determinants of health. Black and brown women theorized a framework of reproductive justice to address these particular concerns, using human rights language. https://www.sistersong.net/reproductive-justice/

Also: the #SayHerName hashtag is for BLACK WOMEN. If you have a problem with that, I really don't care. Black women's labor has been essential to just about every socio-political movement in this country's history, yet y'all constantly erase us. For you to feel entitled to co-opt yet another product of our labor designed to alleviate the deliberate erasure of us in order to center those with more privilege is nasty work and just another symptom of white supremacist delusion.

Reproductive justice, like health justice and other related frameworks, recognizes as a matter of course the deeply interconnected nature of various structures of violence and oppression and as such has a far-reaching scope. It's why you'll catch me often talking about things that, at first glance, may seem unrelated to me or my field. Water crises: RJ issues. Genocides in Sudan, Congo, and Palestine: RJ issues. Colonialism: an RJ issue. Voting rights: RJ issues. Immigration is an RJ issue!

Really good essay about the labor whiteness loves to demand of black women, re: Jasmine Crockett.

"They want the Black woman who will nurture the movement without making demands of it. They want the Black woman who will keep the coalition warm, organized, morally legible, and electorally viable without asking why her own leadership abilities were treated like a insignificant or lesser until somebody else needed her credibility."

Crockett. Harris. Stop dismissing Black women as leaders and then summoning them for "help" when the people who dismissed us get nervous. Black women are not simply "the help" anymore.

@tarakiyee This is great analysis. Thank you. Also, I had no idea tech bros were doing that with Lorde and that is so very irritating... Reading your essay reminded me of this article: "The Fungibility of Intersectionality: An Afropessimist Reading" by Silma Burge. It takes up a different term, but it highlights, similar to you, how a Black feminist theorist's term is flattened, stripped of context, and retooled.

@tarakiyee Ah! Then you might be interested in this article engaging C. Riley Snorton and Saidiya Hartman. It has a nice breakdown of how they each talk about fungibility in the context the other article I shared uses it, and I think what you wrote resonates. https://philarchive.org/archive/EWAARF-2 Black feminism is one of my special interests sooo, yeah lol

I wrote the blog y'all: "What You're Getting Wrong about Identity Politics: Notes from a Re-Read of Combahee

"When leftists reject identity politics without having done the reading...I do not see the humility necessary to practice good political solidarity...I see someone who is not really interested in doing the hard work of building a coalition, but one who is enamored with political catharsis and hierarchy draped in revolutionary aesthetics.

@ZekuZelalem This is sort of mind boggling because my understanding is that Black Jews, many if not most with Ethiopian heritage, who live in Israel are treated as second class citizens. Obviously they must be tailoring the journalists' experiences in some way, for them not to notice this, but I guess I would think that the Black people who actually live there would have had something to say by now. some other deps they have abolished: american studies, women, gender & sexuality studies, mexican american and latino studies this is a result/an iteration of manufactured austerity. a mainstay in authoritative regimes they argued removing deps with some of the school's most notable and prolific scholars as professors was for financial reasons partly--UT Austin is the most highly funded public university in the country we need more people paying attention to this. like, yesterday

I unmuted just to see something and...Trying to differentiate the n slur with "American vs English cultural history" is actually hilarious because who the fuck invented the word in the first place?

I swear you Europeans got some jolly good gotdamn nerve.

You can't even offer the basic grace of acknowledging the use of the word was harmful until you are shamed into it.

This is why I muted your ass, because there is literally no point in talking to you except to drain myself.

Dear White #anthropologists: y'all gotta start citing more Black people and especially Black women in your work. We (black women anthropologists) are disproportionately undercited (Smith 2021). Also, a lot of y'all are kinda bad about half-reading us (I have had several white male anthropologists *egregiously* misquote bell hooks and Audre Lorde to me, hoping for a pat on the back, I suppose). Read, and cite, BW deeply and faithfully.

What do you love about the US? From macaroni and cheese, rock music, to the slang we use-- our contributions. Yet this society constantly abuses and exploits us while failing to recognize us and demanding more of our labor.

This thread is but a partial attempt to redistribute some wealth among us. Black people, pls reply to this thread with your mutual aid asks/links for PayPal, cashapp, etc as you see fit. Others, please share and contribute as allowed by your means.

Pls boost

I think the unemployment numbers for US Black women are even higher now, maybe close to 600k

We make up 25% of the poor, disproportionately high numbers compared to other race-gender demographics. Also important to take into account things like immigration status, disability, transness...all of these identities attract economic penalties and we're fucked if ya can't acknowledge that
