@256 I'm not huge into skeumorphism but I definitely admire how consistent the design language is between all these elements

@metin tbh I'm not gonna read all this but I am curious how JavaScript would be capable of doing this

@metin hm maybe when they say installed software they mean browser extensions. I guess that would technically be an accurate descriptor but it's not what I imagine in my head when they say installed software
Today I tried out the "potato" button on my microwave #SelfCare
The #maxfun podcast network, a worker-owned coop, is something I really rely on to get through the week and they haven't met their fundraising goal yet this year. I know anyone reading this is not gonna donate to a network they don't listen to, but I thought I'd recommend some of my favorite free shows in case one of my followers might become a listener and want to donate next year.
* Jordan, Jesse, GO! - nonsensical comedy for adults
* Depresh Mode - stuff you never knew about mental health; meaningful stories
* FANTI (finished) - radical black gay thought and politics
* Secretly Incredibly Fascinating - entertaining deep dives into obscure topics
* Triple Click - video game talk show
They're at maximumfun.org

@jensimmons@front-end.social If I'm doing it for the fun factor I would say the Web MIDI API 🙂

@randomwalker@mastodon.social I am a proponent of understandable sorting/filtering based on likes and reblogs. I am not interested in algorithms which learn about you. Users should actively control the feeds and easily understand how they work.
Mastodon is pretty cool bit my favorite social network is still https://beta.dwitter.net/top/year
It turns out the killer app of machine learning was collaged micro-plagiarism
Checked in on the ai image generators. They are still so clearly just plagiarizing ideas, characteristics and style from a bunch of images which are associated with the words you typed. And then trying to make it look like a real thing like they did with the black hole at the center of the milky way.
Christina Warren recently joined the MacBreak Weekly podcast and it was the frosting on the cake of an already great tech podcast. The news they discuss is rather mainstream, but the hosts have a nice dynamic.

@killyourfm@layer8.space 1 story out of how ever many thousands is not a subscription canceller for me. I respect others if they feel differently. Yet I personally feel that distrusting every publication in the world is counterproductive in pretty much every way as a society

@Migueldeicaza@mastodon.social @liquidparasyte this is pretty eye opening and nicely presented. I do have a small gripe with safari because they disabled gyro suddenly about a decade ago without even leaving an option for the website to request gyro access via a dialog, thus breaking some genuinely cool web apps. There was a better way thru could have done it while still blocking silent gyro access
