Someone wrote a CUDA compiler. I like the spirit of this: https://github.com/Zaneham/BarraCUDA

How trying out Zig made me miss header files
https://blog.s-schoener.com/2026-03-27-headers/
I wanted Zig's nice toys. My DLL hot reload setup wanted an ABI. We met somewhere in the middle, and now I have the worst of both worlds. Return of the Header File 2, now live: https://blog.s-schoener.com/2026-04-16-zig-abi/
Why does a tiny float4 function blow up into 400 lines of assembly on Mono? Value types, lowering, and lots of unnecessary copies. I wrote up a step-by-step walkthrough from C# to IR to final codegen. https://blog.s-schoener.com/2026-04-07-mono-codegen-1/
More learnings from turning Mono into an optimizing compiler. This time: Why not LLVM? Was it a good idea to start with x64 peepholes? Plus some thoughts about aliasing. https://blog.s-schoener.com/2026-04-13-mono-codegen-2/
It has never been about the typing

I have spent some time on a little project to improve codegen for Unity's Mono runtime, which is used in the editor and is even what some games ship on: https://blog.s-schoener.com/2026-03-31-better-mono/
Surely someone can recommend to me a really good file comparison tool for source files? You may not believe it, but I have not felt the pressing need for one over the last 20 years, but now I do! Bonus points if it makes it easy to compare x64 disassembly in intel syntax.
Is it "engineering manager" or "engineering man ager", as in: "person who makes my hair go grey"?
I made a thing: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1584170/Block_Machine/
It's actually been sort of done for a long time and I was just too much of a coward to press the big green button. But now it's out, and if you are among the 17 people worldwide who have a knack for poorly explained yet surprisingly difficult Turing tarpits, you're in luck!
