@tomas@mastodon.gamedev.place I don't consider that a math fail. That's a "connecting the wrong bit" fail... which for me are like 90% of the programming experience.
Clearly good maths was applied, it obviously works, correctly. The wrong bit is being mathed. 😅

I'd love to know what the fuck is up with it. This has bit me a few times in the past, and is biting me now. Terminal emulator. Should be simple. AFAICT stdout is buffered, and those buffers not filling blocks output from the shell. But they're never going to fill, because interactive shells don't send newlines after all data....
int fd;
if( 0 != forkpty(&fd,0,0,0) ) return;
execvp(getenv("SHELL"), NULL);
No amount of fflush(NULL); or setvbuf(stdout,NULL,_IOLBF, 0); sprinkled on the top or bottom pid makes any difference, if the shell outputs a page or so of text I'll get however much fills the buffer, and then nothing while it waits for the never to be coming output to fill a buffer.
Doesn't seem to affect other terminal apps, but there's scores of folks online bitching about this in every language imaginable.

And now an "A" from "LavishlyYours-Regular.tff".
Clearly something is wrong, because not only is this an "A", it's *supposed* to be an "A". And this font was giving me all kinds of trouble.
Remember that kinda "S" shaped blob that was supposed to be an "A"? I'm not getting that on any font now.
It's infuriating when all the things work.. how am i supposed to find the bugs that are certainly there if they're not visible?

It is impossible to speak/write without context.
That I have chosen to write this in English puts a colossal amount of context into play.
The place I have written this brings with it context as well.
*When* I have written this is a very large body of context. When it is being read brings further context.
Then there is me. Anything I write brings the context of my life. No one knows all of that context, not even me. There are things that have shaped my life that I have no knowledge of.
And lastly, there is you. Everyone brings their own context to the table when reading something.
All of these things are unavoidable. All of these things are unfathomable to varying degrees to everyone. What I'm trying to get at, is if something you read scratches you the wrong way, please try to reach for the "more context" button, rather than the "conflict" button. Especially here on Fedi, most folks are trying their best with their limited context supply. Time too is finite, spend it joyfully.

@sashag@anarres.family "To be queer about this" is one I'm growing rather fond of.
