@heesdaman@mastodon.nl Ja, gaat best rap.

@heesdaman@mastodon.nl Ik was iets langer bezig, want 17 schroefjes (#framework 16).

@Natasha_Jay It's a 10 year old machine. That's not young, sure, but not super old. UEFI is from around 2006 though (earlier, but 2006 is when it came out for consumers on boards).
The issue with the graphics cards is that it's 1) a nvidia card and 2) no longer supported by their driver. Then again, the card is probably old enough to properly work with the nouveau driver in-kernel. In my time with nvidia cards optimus worked fine though, since the kernel has built-in support for that stuff.

@Natasha_Jay (2/2) Mind you that's with Fedora. There you can just right click a application and go "run on graphics cards" (or use switcherooctl). Optimus has been supported (just googled that) since Fedora 30, so 2019

@Natasha_Jay In regards to your number 2: please don't use legacy boot anymore. That was created as a "quick fix "for OS's (cogh cough windows xp) that couldn't boot with (U)EFI firmware, and has been outdated for the past 20 or so years. Any modern proper OS (Windows Vista and newer and any up-to-date Linux) can boot UEFI no issues. The only issue there might be the out-of-tree kernel driver for the nvidia card, though I believe anything that old no longer has their support, so..
