Rusty Ferris
Tinkerer, most of the time I'm either building or breaking something, and now apparently an #author.
Let's just make this happen, printing isn't happening yet so here's the eBook, for free, for Apply Direct Pressure (#ADP) a story about the Federal Occupation of #Minneapolis and how to community organize.
Details about the book and other copy can be found at https://applydirectpressure.com along with details about the illustrator Joe Groove.
So I uh, wrote a book. (#bookstodon) I want it to get out as far as possible because I think it is an important story to tell. It's already quiet released, but my #publisher (Direct Press) wants to do something special for the release.
So I'm here to ask my fellow #authors and #writing enthusiasts how would you announce and release your first book? Assuming the goal is for the most #readers not necessarily most sales.
Thanks for your time.
I've sent out three single page letters recently, all formatted correctly, stamped correctly (Forever stamps), and they have all been lost in the USPS system. wtf man.
So, I have a decision to make, to be a baddie and weaponize a piece of software I made or use it for good and help the tech industry fix their software. One would bring me great karma and a feeling of doing a good thing, the other eventually a boon of a reward. #infosec #cybersecurity #life #deci

Chapter Eight: The Porches
📖 DPBK.INK/ADP
"You cannot intimidate a rooted thing into running, and you cannot panic a slow thing into rashness, and an old woman who has decided to sit on her porch and witness is a kind of immovable object that no amount of official noise can move."
Dolores Reyes, 79. Bad knees, a coat, a notebook.

Fear as a supply
"Fear was a supply like any other. You did not spend it early. You did not spend it on a feeling. You waited until you knew, and then you spent exactly as much as the thing required and not one call more."
Sig Anders, 58, standing in a dark window in Whittier on the first night.

APPLY DIRECT PRESSURE, a novel by Julian Ferris. Illustrated by Joe Groove.
📖 DPBK.INK/ADP
"Direct pressure. You would not believe how far direct pressure gets you. People want the dramatic thing, the tourniquet, the tool with a name, and most of the time, what the body needs is a stranger's whole weight pressed down on the one place that matters and the patience to keep it there while everything else screams."
— Chapter Three: Nikki
So I had to explain what curiosity is to a lazy challenge of "What would you have done?" because the entire reason they keep failing is lack of curiosity.
