It’s new #RC2014 day! Where better to start soldering than the capacitors on the backplane.

@diyelectromusic@mastodon.social @rc2014@oldbytes.space @shieladixon@oldbytes.space if it helps, this is what I use on my Mac when for building and running assembly language programs on my RC2014. The RC2014 must be running SCM for this to work.

Lovely trip up to Beachy Head, and then a scenic walk back down to Eastbourne.

@shieladixon there was one on using square waves from a W65C22 timer. This seemed very portable to the RC2014. Maybe it could even be changed to use a Z80 CTC.

@shieladixon@oldbytes.space That is fabulous. I also saw the Happy Little Diodes video and thought about doing something like this, but never took it further. If you've not seen it already, Ben Eater did a great video on creating sound for his 6502 breadboard computer.

This is the code I toggled in. It just calls some example code in ROM.
0000 0000 00 NOP
1100 0011 C3 JP $4150

@jonn_blanchard I don’t know when any of the channels I subscribe to are meant to put out content. It’s just a nice surprise when I look on YouTube and there is a new video to enjoy.

@zwangseinweisung@mastodon.social It's based on one of the first games for a home computer. It was originally written to play on the Altair.
The OLED screen is just spying on what is currently on the data bus. I was using it to check the values I had toggled in using the binary switches.

@rc2014@oldbytes.space at the moment it’s a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 via DuPont cables to a breadboard. It’s currently just spying on the data bus, decoding what it sees to hexadecimal, and showing it on a small OLED screen.

@Monraet@mastodon.social Hi Maurice. I have "Ram Disable" jumpered on CPU / RAM module. On the ROM module I have A14 jumpered to 1, A15 and A16 jumpered to 0.

@rc2014@oldbytes.space on the positive side, Royal Mail delivered my RC2014 Orton 3C safely this morning.

@rc2014@oldbytes.space do you have any pictures of how you mounted the Orton 3C in the blue box? Do you leave the back panel open? Is power only via the FTDI as the barrel socket looks to be unaccessible?

@Monraet@mastodon.social have you got anything working on your Orton 3C? It took me a few attempts to get the hang of the programming via the toggles.

@rc2014@oldbytes.space It does help, thank you. I was just making sure I was fitting it correctly.
It looks like there is enough room in the box for a Backplace 8 along with the 3C-PO shim if I swap out the Backplane 5. Would you agree?
