Get your ears on Sophie Wellington's new album Her Bright Smile Haunts Me Still! Whether or not you're a trad music aficionado, this album shimmers as Wellington pushes the envelope on what a single human can do with a guitar (and tap shoes.) Read my review on No Depression!

Extremely chuffed to be featured in Don't Rock the Inbox with my essay about the use of Sapphic imagery by mainstream country artists like Ashley McBryde (whom I love), Kacey Musgraves, and, of course. Little Big Town.

I feel really dumb. My #turntable came with a 45 rpm adapter and I can't figure out how to get it...off of the turntable? Spinning it around doesn't seem to do anything and the manual has no information
For No Depression, I review Soft Place to Land, the beautiful new album by Candace Hastings. Hastings is an accomplished singer and songwriter -- and her reunification with her birth family and exploration of her indigenous heritage inform Soft Place to Land. This is an album about leave takings and what it means to find home after all.

Mystic Vale was super fun. I am not a strategy game fan at all and I really loved this. It lands somewhere between Magic and Dominion
Closing out Pride Month on No Depression with a look to the future: in their own ways Chicago's Andrew Sa and New York's Paisley Fields are carrying on the legacy of queer country pioneer Lavender Country

It's Sunday here in the US! This week I'm putting the finishing touches on the next issue of Rainbow Rodeo, my #queer #countrymusic #zine

I might also squeeze in a podcast
REVIEW: @PaisleyjamesFields@threads.com has outdone himself on his newest album Are U Mad at Me?
I see it as a historical concept piece about all the ways queer rage has been suppressed over decades -- and that now is the time to vent it.
Read more about it on @nodepression@threads.com!

For No Depression, River Shook and I spoke about stepping out on their own, knowing when to call it with the Disarmers, and the freedom that comes from obligation -- all ahead of River's self-titled solo debut!

Happy Pride! For No Depression, I illustrate how queer country will help lead the way to revolution -- especially with anthems from artists like Adam Mac, Paisley Fields, Molly Brandt, and Brandon Good!

You can tell the Liberty have gentrified because most of the people here are standing for the anthem
