postmarketOS (old account)

@osuosl@fosstodon.org has been around for 22 years. They kindly host our gitlab for 6 months now, and provide important services for more than 150 other free and open source software communities such as @alpinelinux@fosstodon.org, @chimera@gts.chimera-linux.org , @debian@framapiaf.org, @fdroidorg@floss.social, @gentoo@fosstodon.org, @gnome@floss.social, @LineageOS@fosstodon.org, #ReplicantOS, @torproject@mastodon.social. Now their future is in jeopardy 😢

We usually don't ask this, but please boost for reach, this is important infrastructure for so many FLOSS projects!

We are looking into moving our Mastodon account to another instance within the next week or so.

Due to the recent controversy and resulting defederations with some instances, we decided to move the postmarketOS Mastodon account away from Fosstodon. Thank you for hosting us since 2018 and best wishes to @Gina@fosstodon.org and her new team!

Thanks to @FediTips@social.growyourown.services for writing this excellent transfer guide: https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/

See you on the other side! :blobcatwave:

Heads up on recent mesa upgrades in postmarketOS edge:

* Due to changes in the drivers for the Mali GPUs in Mediatek SoCs like MT8183, the recent update to Mesa 25 causes graphical display issues on Mediatek SoCs. A workaround is in preparation: https://postmarketos.org/edge/2025/05/05/Graphical-issue-with-Mesa-25-on-Mediatek-SoCs/

* The qcom/adreno bug that caused GTK4 apps to fail to start with the new GTK4 rendering backend has been fixed in the latest patch release! Related workaround will be removed once it is in flatpak: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6472

Some great backports landed in v24.12 thanks to the following amazing people!

* @fraolt@fosstodon.org figured out call audio regressions for sdm845 (bottom mic not working on xiaomi-beryllium (Poco F1), distorted audio on OP6 (and possibly OP6T)) and made a workaround: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/5966

* @johkra fixed pinephones with vccq-mod not booting: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/5980

* @craftyguy@freeradical.zone fixed that boot-deploy failed when using a strictly POSIX compatible shell: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/5960
