Of all the post-election analysis, it’s interesting that no one seems to be talking much about wealth or income
I saw an FT headline that reads "Poorer voters flocked to Trump”
But that’s not true, Not by these statistics:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1535295/presidential-election-exit-polls-share-votes-income-us/
The very lowest incomes favored Harris slightly, as did the highest
It was the mid-to-low incomes that “flocked” to Trump, not the very poorest
That seems important

@mnementh61@mindly.social @donmelton@mstdn.social but that exempts folks like Mormons and JWs from proselytizing me — that would be perfectly OK by the golden rule
Or deadnaming. “I don’t care if anyone deadnames me” etc.
I like to tweak the Jewish version — don’t do unto others anything you wouldn’t want done to yourself *if you were them*

@RollingStone@mstdn.social This seemed inevitable from the start. And if they win their special elections, which they almost certainly will, they’re untouchable. Tennessee law doesn’t allow for them to be expelled twice

@darrelplant @mmasnick @nilay_patel I caught that too, and it was very telling. You should figure out the answer to that question *before* you launch

I kinda hate it. I don’t want a phone, but I don’t have a choice :(

@IceCubesApp@mastodon.online I love the new threaded replies. Thank you!
I still have a problem with timeline/app stalling when notification counter increases, but not complaining…

@atrupar Part branding, part server rules, part federation policies, part size.
I would echo the “it doesn’t matter too much,” crowd except that it clearly does if you’re on a small server.
A lot of what you see in the Fediverse, including replies to posts, depends on what *other people* on your server follow.
See:

Mastodon.online is not small. All of the major servers with many users should be fine. For you, it’s probably more a decision of branding/handle.

@sesivany@floss.social The other big difference between Bluesky and Twitter/Threads/Mastodon is that it’s not open to the public yet. You still need an invite to join
I’m waiting until it’s open to everyone before I even bother looking at it

@taber@woof.group Unfortunately, it’s only available to a small group of pre-selected taxpayers (I’m guessing military based on the demo)
If the first phase is successful, IRS plans to open it up to all taxpayers for those 12 states in mid-March
