@minego@pdx.social Surprise isn’t the emotion no. What do you call recognition of the familiar in the unfamiliar? It’d be like running into you at a Bridge City Sinners show … like I didn’t expect it, but I wouldn’t call it “surprise” to find you there.

@minego@pdx.social I think the word in that sentence that intrigues me the most and yet is the most 'oh yeah minego' is … “another”

@bennomatic@appdot.net @danlyke@researchbuzz.masto.host I’d argue they’re more 90s Pop/Power Punk … they are amazing though. Nearly the opposite end of that same weird musical corner is The Cleverlys which are as amazing as Me First but you swap Punk for Bluegrass.

@Jmj @cstross Perl’s TIMTOWDI has ruined me.

@jxyzn@mastodon.lwr.wtf @mos_8502@studio8502.ca Star Trek: The Animated Series isn’t quite full anime, but given animation in the 1970s it’s definitely closer to Speed Racer than Hanna Barbera.

@domm Everyone loves a talk with class.

@cstross @Jmj I mean I think one could make a coherent argument that programming *is* poetry: reduced syntax, enforced structure, heavy use of metaphor… It’s just most programming topics make Vogon poetry look exciting.
