DALY BMS (UART, CAN), Huawei R4850G (CAN), Surron Fahrzeugbus (RS485), Victron VE.direct (UART)) und eine Hand voll andere Open-Source-Projekte (AdbClient.NET, music-sync-converter) ins Leben gerufen:

Alles ohne "Vibecoding" oder andere LLM-Unterstützung.

@mushroomdonoteat@misskey.fryer.net.au May I introduce you to the demoscene? :P
It's not exactly game development but the spirit of optimizing aggressively to make things work that wouldn't otherwise is definitely there

The scene is alive and well, (without really being involved with the demoscene before) I visited Revision demoparty a few years back and had a blast!

@dbb@thevelvetedge.net 3 entire minutes at 64kbit/s (sounds alright when using HE-AAC or Opus, with mp3 not so much) 😆

@leggy2fast@kangaroo.to It's just a regular USB floppy drive.
But I did find special CD drives that read standard audio CDs and emulate a USB mass storage device with a file system with each track as a .wav file, which I found pretty amusing/amazing.

@karotte@chaos.social I don't even mean "used new", but like actually factory-new.
Dacia (and I think Renault as well) ships their 2022 cars with car radio hardware from 2012 with "Windows Embedded Compact 7".
Funnily enough, the UI is really responsive (as in, <100ms latency, a lot of other cars are really bad there) and they implemented Android Auto (which works great)

@kevin@elephant.crime.group IIRC I could hear it read more data while the song was already playing, so I guess floppies are fast enough for 64kbit/s streaming 😅

@dbb@thevelvetedge.net I mean you can still try with 64kbit/s MP3 or shorter tracks, it just won't sound great

@ScottSoCal@computerfairi.es sure, USB flash drives or SSDs would work as well (and would probably make more sense), but HDDs, or like in this case, a 3.5" USB floppy drive with floppy is more fun 😀
