I've been using Fedilab for long enough now that I don't even remember why I chose it. I've tried the official Mastodon app a few times, but came back to Fedilab because familiar felt better (and I remember the official app seemed like it used more real estate to present less information). What does all that mean? Hell if I know, but what I do know is I have a choice. And I love that.

We have a 64-key Melodigrand. Finding a #piano tuner was harder than expected, so I bought a tuning hammer, some mutes, and decided to give it a go. The entire piano was nearly a half-step flat after 5 years. And many unisons were ... not unisons 😁

My first DIY tuning was successful and painless for a few reasons:

The Tuner app on @fdroidorg@floss.social is phenomenal - https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.moekadu.tuner/
This piano only has 2 strings per key on the trebles (instead of 3)
The piano only has 64 keys (instead of 88)

I would still attack a full 88er with 3 strings per treble, but it would take longer.

You don't have to turn a #piano on. You walk past it, feel the need to play a little 20-second something... and continue with whatever less important thing it was that you were doing. What luxury 🎹

@n3bulous@ruby.social As I see it, where they are now is they are the only web browser that is not dependent on big tech (not chrome-based, their own rendering engine, etc.). I'd love to see a campaign pitching this independence to the masses in a way that sticks. We need a non-adversarial, full-stack, independent browser to persist thru the big tech mess, and Firefox seems best positioned to be it and stay it. And also, f*ck AI 😁 @jwz@mastodon.social

The #AI we are seeing today is an affront to being human. And yet humans are leading that charge - squandering resources that could otherwise be used to help and sustain people's well-being, choosing to replace their own words with slop, and displacing their own in the workforce. The race to self-destruct would be comical if I didn't have kids soon to be independent in this disaster.
