I think a combination of Hanami/Hanakai's new site + discovering https://honker.dev has me wanting to spin personal Ruby projects back up. Just installed `rv` and am well aware of https://gem.coop as well.

The spark is back.

Now that I’m digging more into Hanami, I’m really liking dry-operations! The dry-monads + steps approach makes a lot of sense and I like the graceful error handling.

Think I’ll be able to get one of my Rails projects completely migrated soon. Will share when done.

I wanted something similar to ViewComponent in Hanami so I handrolled something that feels close enough for now.

• app/views/component.rb: defines a Views::Component#locals method that makes instance variables and methods available as a hash
• app/views/scope.rb: defines a Views::Scope#render_component method that calls render on the respective partial of a component in app/templates/components and spreads the component's Component#locals
• app/views/components/*.rb: defines individual component Ruby classes
• app/templates/components/_*.html.erb: defines individual component templates

And the usage in Hanami templates looks like:

<%= render_component Components::Button.new(text: "Click me", variant: :secondary) %>

So far, so good!

Would love to switch back to Asahi Linux as a daily driver if thunderbolt support is added. Eyeing the new Framework 13 Pro in the meantime. 👀
