@Em0nM4stodon Not just emails. If you're reviewing a paper for a journal and you ask an LLM to summarize it for you, you've leaked that paper.

@pigworker If at any time you think it would help for people to write letters (to your uni, to your local politician, ... anybody), count me in.

@thezoq2@mastodon.social Thanks. Vijayvithal Jahagirdar was a senior engineer at TI Bengaluru, where he designed a major IP for the OMAP chip using Bluespec. Now he runs his own design services company, continuing to use Bluespec.

@elduvelle @Em0nM4stodon Yes, but what about the extra unfairness towards other authors who submitted to the same conference/journal? That's why it's worse.

@elduvelle @Em0nM4stodon And, to make it even worse, some authors have added "hidden text" (white font) in their papers that prompt the LLM to provide a good review.

2/2 Once the mathematical equipment needed for the design of nodeterministic mechanisms achieving a purpose has been developed, the nondeterministic machine is no longer frightening. On the contrary! We shall learn to appreciate it, even as a valuable stepping stone in the design of an ultimately fully deterministic mechanism."

TIL, that the "eu" in "Eureka!" is not the "eu" in eulogy/Europe/eucalyptus/eukaryote, ... but is actually the "heu" in "heuristic" (the "h" got dropped at some point). In Eureka and heuristic it comes from "to find/discover".

An AI chatbot may inform about
The connection of shells to Sligo[1];
But know that the chatbot without
any sources, would be nought but GIGO.

The AI chatbot scrapes some know
From Wikipedia, built with labor;
Result: to Wikipedia fewer people go,
Cutting its traffic like a sabre.
