Getting Longplay to work on iPhone Duo is quite some work as its iOS UI is all custom. It's fun though and invites to stretch the HIG recommendations a bit.

Randomly came across Kin-dza-dza the other day: a 40-year-old Russian sci-fi cult classic that I never heard about before. It's a bit like Monty Python on Arrakis and makes me wish someone turned Bob Sheckley's Dimension of Miracles into a movie.
Took a glance at my menu bar and thought "why do I have a Netscape icon"?
@simonbs I wonder if there was much less backlash against LLMs if they were a commons and fully open rather than proprietary with massive commercial motives.

I am loving the hobby aspects of building Longplay lately. Exploring way too many fun and nerdy side alleys that are resulting from a new capability that I’m added. Time to draw a boundary around it and ship it though, as I’m very excited to share that.

Haven't been keeping up much with #WWDC build-up so far, but are there no one-on-one virtual tech labs this year? That was the best part. What a bummer.
Note to self: Next time you make a trip to Melbourne for a few days, check the forecast instead of assuming you get stable summery weather like in Sydney. Lovely people here as usual though.
The new App Store Connect is laughably bad if you have a paid upfront app with a tip jar. You get the most detailed insights into the abyssal performance of your tip jar, and barely anything about the upfront payment.

In anticipation of my Pebble Round 2, I made a retro watch face for Longplay. This is so much fun and makes me much more excited about it than my Apple Watch, which is just a workout tracker these days. May can't come soon enough.

@lexfri @caseyliss @marcoarment Well... Whenever I cycle I say “start a cycling workout” as I roll out of the garage. That used to work every time, but recently it will randomly show a picker between indoor cycling and outdoor cycling. Now I have to check what it’s actually doing which isn’t entirely safe. I never do indoor cycling, so this makes it extra frustrating.

@phiali@mastodon.social Yeah, luckily everything still seems to be in working order, though I haven't yet tried charging my phone. My mechanical keyboard is still fully functional and ended up a tad bit cleaner than I started the day (though with a new scent).

I'm working on an app that has a little purpose-built scripting language and LLMs can work really well with that when provided with a reference markdown file of the syntax and supported functions, plus a CLI to evaluate the code. It's pretty remarkable seeing that in action.
