What follows is a text from my dear friend

Gaza today is not just a place we live in; it is a long and arduous ordeal that tests the resilience of souls before bodies. Here, where the dust tells the story of a home that was once full of life, and where the nights stretch on heavy with no reassurance, I find myself alone facing the cruelty of the world. I embraced my name, "Islam," and felt its profound meaning, but the path to safety and peace has become distant, and I have become a mother to three orphaned children: Islam, Yahya, and Muhammad.
Raising children in times of war is not merely about feeding and watering them; it is a desperate attempt to protect the minds and souls of children from the terror that pervades the streets. Every morning, I wake to sounds that remind us we are on the brink of loss, and I must wear a mask of strength and steadfastness so that my children do not see defeat in my eyes. How can I explain to Islam (who is taking his first steps toward a future that was supposed to be safe) and to his brothers, Yahya and Muhammad, that the world has stopped caring about us? How can I protect their innocence from the darkness that surrounds us on all sides? My greatest worry now, amidst this devastation, is my firstborn son, Islam. His intelligent eyes constantly remind me that his father didn't leave in vain, and that the trust he left me is embodied in this little one. Islam loves to learn and asks many questions about our circumstances. His eyes watch me, wondering if I can protect and educate him. I've realized I can't surrender to this reality; every day that passes without education and growth is a day stolen from his life and his future.
That's why I launched this campaign. I didn't open this door seeking luxury, but rather the most basic right to life and dignity: to see Islam continue his education and to build a future for him that will shield him from the harshness of life. Every contribution, no matter how small, is a brick laid in the wall of his protection, a lifeline extended to a child destined to shoulder the responsibilities of manhood too soon. I reach out to you, hoping my voice will find compassionate and supportive hearts, so that together we can build a better tomorrow for Islam and his siblings.
