He/him.
A railway enthusiast and an amateur photographer.
Posting "x years ago" photos at 8:30 pm every Thursday (Japan time). All photos are my own work. Alternative text has been left blank deliberately.
Has an online encyclopaedia of rolling stock in Japan, called "The Red List of Trains in Japan".
Has tremendously bad luck when it comes to escalator/lift closures. See #ALENOK
Also a senior lecturer of constitutional and international law (though hardly talk about them).
The sunset at Aoyama Gakuin University, Shibuya
Left Koganei after living there for two years. It might not be as fashionable as neighbouring stations, but Higashi Koganei is a quiet yet convenient place with good people, and I liked it.
Nine years ago today…Hakone Tozan Railway 100 series approaching Ohiradai station. No. 108 had a triangle pattern just below the windscreen, which I really liked. The old train will be operational until January 2028.

Nine years ago today…Toei 7000 series trams in Tokyo. The old trams were about to retire, so a farewell signboard was installed on both cars.
13 years ago today…Tokyu 8090 series on the Oimachi Line with a farewell sticker. The Line had been known for "the place of old trains" as most train there were reallocated from the Toyoko or Den-en-toshi Line.
10 years ago today…Sotetsu 9000 series trains at Sagami Otsuka sidings. As I wrote a week before, the company frequently changes train designs. The right red one was original, the middle one was first observed in 2007, and now most trains are painted like the left one.
Kunitachi station: the 100th anniversary
A limited express train in Shimane Prefecture came to a halt as its horn would not stop, and then its toilet overflowed. I must admit I laughed a bit at this news (apologies and kudos to the driver and guard).
I also found it amusing that only 90 people were affected despite train cancellations.
I wonder if this station could really be step-free in the future.
Britain now has to adapt itself to a herd of Snorlax.

Oh what a beautiful translation
Watching a local samurai festival
When hanging around Kichijoji, I came across some trees at the end of a narrow street lined with parked bicycles, and I felt for a moment as if I were in a town somewhere in Britain.
I thought my head was a bit dizzy because of fatigue or dehydration, but it was a real quake. Tsunami warning has been issued. Stay safe everyone.
Oh a bit nasty quake in Nagano? Stay safe everyone!
I have never seen such a long queue here. I suspect most of them are asking for a refund.
While I regret the decision to close my blog last year, I also think that it would have been very difficult to post articles regularly, as I am now really busy at my new workplace.
French professor accused of ‘gigantic hoax’ after inventing Nobel-style prize

I believe it is time to invent the "Novel FC Japan Prize", with a brown medal depicting a fried chicken. Any candidates here?
There was an unexpected encounter at a classroom with a Tsugaru-accent speaker. It was a bit surprising, but I could get what the student was saying, and I found the dialect quite charming.
Most people would be confused by its English name, as the Japanese one does not refer to "Kagawa" in any way.
*This university is owned and managed by an educational institution called Kagawa Education Foundation, derived from its founders' name.
I value democracy. I firmly believe that, as a principle, the destiny of a country must always be determined by its own people, and outsiders should refrain from interfering with domestic matters. However, I must also say that the growing light-blue bar on the chart is still disturbing.
I initially thought it was a story in the 1970s or so. This is the Nordic country that is "civilised enough".

Not something we would normally expect during the war. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
