It's me! My hope is to make this account my primary and @natoleander@mastodon.social my backup.
For those who don't know me, I'm 37 and I live in the Cascadia region of Turtle Island, on Duwamish land in Seattle, WA. I'm a solo parent of a toddler who just turned 2 years old, and have been in court for over a year since leaving my child's abusive father. I will generally share about my experiences as a DV survivor with content warnings, but since this is an intro, I'm keeping it open and not going into any specifics.
My child & I have received enormous support from our local community as well as from the fediverse. I've spent over $10k on legal representation, and will be continuing to fundraise in the coming months. We are currently physically safe, which is such a relief after the year we've had.
I'm genderfluid and queer, and I use they/them pronouns. I've trained as a playwright, and I dabble in arts of many forms; I'm in a choir, and I got seriously into partner dancing (Brazilian Zouk!) before my pregnancy. I'm a language nerd who competed in the National Spelling Bee and is currently learning Spanish & ASL to raise my child trilingually. I have a newsletter called Impure Leftist that supports activists to be more effective and less burned out. I'm also COVID-aware and still take pandemic precautions.
I'd love to connect with other creatives, writers, parents, queerdos, and anyone else who's looking for kind & thoughtful community in a world steadily undergoing multiple forms of collapse.
