I saw a job listing that, in its one-line header, specified "not Amazon". I like that that's seen as a draw.
If you're a #music fan, and you're not familiar with Bill McClintock, it's my honour to introduce you. He makes high-quality mashups, not just of the songs, but of the videos as well. They're usually a mix of two main songs, but he seems to be including more third-party tidbits in recent works. Here's his latest:

In my Firefox prefs, I just went to "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed", and clicked "Manage exceptions".
There was a lot of stuff in there -- old stuff, some certainly unintended, and one suspicious address. It's all gone now. But I'll check the other "manage exceptions" lists.
Saw a round thing on a neighbor's porch, and I couldn't tell if it was a small Hippity-Hop or a large kettlebell.
One of the most important lessons I've learned -- one that I wish was more widely understood -- is that what something is *called* and what it *is* are two different things. Sometimes *very* different.
Whoops. I accidentally got bell pepper spray.
Might be okay on a salad, I guess.
Won't get me out of this situation, though.
Those who like to say that "AI"/"LLMs" will never produce anything useful will find the summary at the top of this Reddit page most illuminating:
To be sure, this DOES NOT address issues like environmental impact or unethical/illegal use of content. But it does make clear that the people you've heard saying that "AI"/"LLMs" will never produce anything useful are not taking the facts seriously. Therefore, you need not take them seriously.
In any otaku relationship, it's important to know which one is the sub and which one is the dub.

I hadn't realised that John Astin (actor; known as Gomez Addams) is related to Sean Astin (actor; known as Samwise Gamgee)! John adopted Sean, who was previously his step-son.
BTW, John turned 96 a couple days ago!
An observation:
When an issue arises for discussion, some people will have strong or even extreme opinions. Also, there will be people who will be more vociferous in their opinions. (These are often the same people.)
Conversely, some will have more balanced or nuanced views, or won't want to decide right away. And there will be those who are naturally quieter or more hesitant to voice an opinion. (Again, these are often the same people.)

Don't look directly at bright objects in the sky. In the case of the sun, it can permanently damage your eyes. In the case of the moon, it's just rude.
Did Trump give the pillow guy a blanket pardon?
The recent researching finding amino acids, nucleobases, and such on asteroids is certainly fascinating, but I'm a little puzzled. Space rocks are being suggested as a source for the building blocks of life on Earth.
But is Earth not a space rock too? If these compounds can occur naturally on asteroids, why would we assume they couldn't also occur naturally on Earth?
This ad for a "Pet Waste Removal Technician" offers "$29.70 per hour + $0.75 per mile".
Per *mile*? How much crap are we talking about?!
In D&D, one of the defined actions a character can take is Help -- assist another character in some way, to make success more likely. *But* it has to be something where a second person can reasonably assist. Having two people trying to pick a lock, for example, won't increase the chances of success.
This is a good metaphor for parallel computing. Can two threads grab the ends of a task and lift it together, or does the task require the focused concentration of an individual?
"William Carlos Williams" was his nom de plum.

What do you mean it doesn't work? It redirected $8 billion from taxpayers to private industry, just as it was intended to.

The povray.org website is partially disconnected from the Internet. From their announcement, packets outgoing from them are getting black-holed by Comcast (IIUC). They haven't reported a response from Comcast since March 14.
If you're having trouble getting to #povray, or have an "in" at #Comcast, see details below.
