@ancoghlan@mastodon.social @hynek@mastodon.social I really tried preventing a fork by asking multiple times if we could please pretty please have a release of httpx, but that was not happening. We actually do the pillow/pil style thing so that you can import httpxyz and your third-party package that imports httpx will benefit. And I know about the supply chain stuff, it will take a long time for people to switch because they have to start trusting me & my co-maintainer ;-)

@dheadshot @bagder just saying… companies buying fake stars should get fines, and VC companies must take note. I noticed the huge amount of stars on LLM related repos a couple of weeks ago and I created one just for the hell of it, with an accompanying blog post explaining why I think it does not work. @hynek@mastodon.social @squidfunk@fosstodon.org Also there used to be a 'httpnext' github repository (it is still in my browser history) but it has been turned private or removed and I think also some comments on PRs that linked it have been removed? But I might be wrong on that last point
