The amount of work that some distros put into their installers release after release is always amusing to me, almost like an expected use case of #linux is that people will be installing from scratch frequently.
I’m honestly sick of the attitude in this industry that you periodically go on call and can get paged for any reason while you’re on call, and it’s just normal and OK this happens. And then there’s the smug people who say “well it wouldn’t be like that if you did X Y Z.”
Yeah no shit, if things were different, then things would be different. I work in the real world and I haven’t seen a very functional real world model of this yet. #technology #bigtech #software
I feel like 10 years ago I could do such cool things with Rails + Omniauth + Bootstrap. No AI. Very little cloud beyond an Ubuntu server somewhere.

Been trying to reduce my VS Code dependency lately and switched to #KDE Kate, which actually has gone pretty well. The hardest things to adjust to are the little UI/UX differences that I've gotten used to for ~12 years or whatever.
It's honestly kind of impressive how much raw compute `npm install` can just suck down. #javascript #jshate
AI tools create codebases where every task becomes a yak shave. And the solution these tools bring to that problem is a lawn mower.
