@carlrichell I am using Linux since I was 15 or so. I wouldn't know half as much about computers, servers and networking, if I hadn't had access to Linux, FOSS & open computer equipment at a young age.

@aks@scalie.zone They also don't get that there was a vote. It's the majority of involved users, who don't want LLM Code on Codeberg. They just can't admit that they are not wanted there.

Why do all CVEs need an AI generated logo now?

You can get the point across without it

@aks@scalie.zone It is insane, that TODO tools are not a solved problem yet.
How are we still struggling to have one tool to manage TODOs across desktop, mobile & web?

@protowlf@mastodon.gamedev.place And the customers don't care either. Take Steam for example: If you use AI where the user can see it (textures, models, story, etc.) you have to disclaim it on your store page. If you vibecode the whole thing: you don't have to disclose anything. People don't view code as art, they view it as a necessary evil.

Made a "hide ai posts" userscript for hackernews a while back.
I just threw it onto Codeberg.
Works for 90% of all AI posts. (Some posts slip through the regex)

Feel free to use and / or contribute:

@aks@scalie.zone Been thinking about this too.
I was (and still am to a certain extend) worried about AI replacing my skills and falling behind.

After pondering over this for some days I came to the following conclusion:
I am one of those weirdos, who actually like to _write_ software.
I've learned to use tools which improve my speed at which I can write & iterate and it makes me quite fast, so I don't really feel like I need to improve my speed with a bullshit generator.
I also enjoy typing and thinking about implementation details, so I actually like to do everything by hand.
Furthermore, it does not feel rewarding for me, if I create something while taking huge shortcuts, so that's another argument against it in my book.

Honestly I've started to ignore what the AI people are saying about software development and concentrate on my own stuff and I really recommend it. Always worrying about something you cannot change will just make your mental health deteriorate.

@aks@scalie.zone All is good, until I hit the third layer. (Because every thought needs context (which might require more context (which perhaps requires additional knowledge (which [...]))))

Having issues with pipewire audio for the last month.
I just checked and guess what? Claude is in the top Contributors. No wonder this is so buggy lately. It worked fine half a year ago.

@protowlf@mastodon.gamedev.place The sad thing is that a lot of programmers don't see programming as a creative work. They don't care about copyright, licenses or actual skill, because the hype man told them that "ai is the future".
